M.PHARM PROJECT EXPERIENCE:

Carried out a research project entitled “A Study on Antioxidant and Organ protective Effects of Aerial Parts of Sonchus asper (L.) Hill “as part of M. Pharm, under the guidance of Dr. S. Ramachandra Setty, Professor and Principal, S.C.S. College of pharmacy, Harapanahalli.

The main objectives of the project were to screen the extract against the following activities.

i. Hepatoprotective activity against experimentally induced hepatic injury in rats (CCl4, paracetamol and thiacetamide induced hepatic injury in rats).

ii. To screen the extract against experimentally induced renal injury in rats, to evaluate the Nephroprotective activity.

iii. Gastroprotective activity against experimentally induced gastric ulcers in rats (Pyloric ligation, ethanol and aspirin induced gastric ulcers in rats).

iv. Various in-vitro and in-vivo models of antioxidant studies.

v. Experience in biochemical estimations of various parameters including SGOT, SGPT, ALP, and Total and Direct bilirubin.

RESEARCH SKILLS AND STRENGTHS:

• Expert in blood withdrawal techniques by Cardiac puncture and retro-orbital method for evaluation of biochemical parameters.

• Administration of drugs by intravenous, subcutaneous and per oral routes.

• Specialization in Hepatoprotective, Nephroprotective, Antioxidant and antiulcer activities.
