Professional Experience

Jasper Library Furniture / Jasper Group / Blanton & Moore Company (Apr. 1981 – Sept. 2009)

Product Engineer / Engineering Manager

Barium Springs, NC

1/2009-9/2009

Our company was purchased by Jasper Library Furniture.

In April of 2009, I moved into a product engineering position to assist with the increase of projects requiring

complex custom and modified furniture.

8/2007-1/2009

Blanton & Moore Co. was sold to Jasper Seating Inc. in August of 2007 and became Jasper Group, Facility No. 7.

By January 2008, Engineering had fallen behind schedule partially due to the influx of new business.

As the new Engineering Manager and under my leadership, our team identified and eliminated all obstacles that had caused the delays and were back on schedule within 90 days.

Continued working to streamline and speed the flow of information to manufacturing.

Successfully oversaw the purchase and implementation of AutoCAD Inventor and Inventor Vault 2009

to aid in further automating our engineering processes. This was accomplished, along with the necessary training,

during the company’s busiest time of the year.

7/2002-8/2007

Due to company's growth, was awarded management of a newly created department, focused solely on Product Design and Development.

Provided consultation and managed the flow of technical information to our national dealer network. Designed and developed structural and aesthetic enhancements to our standard product lines.

Created and developed new styles including their necessary close adherence specifications.

Provided pre-bid assistance to dealers, architects and or designers for large high-end projects which included

preliminary custom designs with their specification and manufacturing feasibility data.

6/1997-7/2002

Promoted to Engineering Manager to lead a team of five extremely talented product engineers.

Immediately and successfully began strengthening our engineering teams efficiency by cooperatively setting specific team goals, providing each team member with the tools necessary to accomplish those goals and giving each member of the team complete ownership of their assigned projects.

Led in the development and implementation of automatic processes to simplify and replace many time consuming and outdated manual operations causing engineering production to climb 67% in one year.

Oversaw all software and new product training of current and new members of our team.

Collaborated frequently with manufacturing and assisted in the implementation of new technologies to enhance

communication between our departments.

8/1989-6/1997

Was promoted to Lead Product Engineer to assist in the company's gradual transition from Architectural Millwork

to Library and Media Center Furniture containing integrated power and data systems.

Consolidated the efforts of our engineering team to develop and implement five finite library furniture styles that became popular standards with built-in quality that set us apart from our competition.

Led in the design and development of many custom styles for particular projects, some of which became high-end

standard offerings for the higher education and public library market.

4/1981-8/1989

Specialized in creating detailed Architectural Millwork construction drawings from various architectural formats for various size projects.

Successfully reduced engineering time by rapport building and direct consultation with the project architect and/or designer.

Coordinated all project related communication between our company, the general contractor and the architect, resulting in the development of a strong skill in specification analysis which would greatly benefit our company at

a later time.
