Development Test Engineer, (R&D Test Development)

Test Engineer responsible for Head/Media testing activities from production and development areas for magnetic media testing. Primary areas of responsibility included:

• Developed new test head process to reduce test time; improved disk quality and cost saving by increasing output and yield.

• Interfaced with head engineering groups and vendors on test equipment, Head/Media qualification and correlation to ensure optimal disk test quality and yield.

• Responsible for the incoming acceptance from internal and external source audit heads by using Cambrian MC950 and Fly Height tester.

• Qualified new test head at the company and customer sites including analyzing and testing customer samples.

• Participated in customer specification reviews.

• Performed new certification, burnish, and glide head evaluation.

• Developed and implemented procedures for certification, glide and burnish heads for ISO 9000.

• Generated alignment and defect disks for final test.

• Supported experiment/prototype products before they transfer to high volume manufacturing.

• Set up tester to customer specifications.

• Maintained and recorded all test head usage and head inventory.

• Checked and identified the root cause of failure for customer drive returns.

• Supported the component level testing of Head Stack/HGA/Media on phase metrics/Guzik testers and built head stack for MDW and Aperio testing for all drive programs.
