Medical Billing and Coding

• Receive payments and posted amounts paid to customer accounts.

• Communicate with patient to ensure timely resolution of balances

• Locate and monitor overdue accounts, using computers and a variety of automated systems.

• Resolve issues, set payment expectation, arrange payment and request information from patient

• Notify customers of delinquent accounts by mail or telephone, to solicit payment.

• Assist in posting and adjusting payment; submit claims balances to secondary insurance providers

• Enter daily charges into billing system database, based on requisitions

• Sort, file and respond to correspondence; write reports to be submitted to management.

• Record address changes and purge the records of deceased customers.

• Ensure entire insurance process is completed while assisting in the collections of monies due.

• Communicate with individuals to answer questions, explain information, and address concerns.

• Answer telephones, direct calls, and take messages; complete and mail bills, contracts, policies, invoices, or checks.

• Greet customers and ascertain what each customer wants or needs, and direct them accordingly.

• Compile, copy, sort, and file records of office activities, business transactions, and other activities.

• Operate photocopiers and scanners, facsimile machines, voice mail systems, and personal computers.

• Compute, record, and proofread data and other information, such as records or reports.

• Maintain and update filing, inventory, and database systems, either manually or using a computer.

• Open, sort, and route incoming mail, answer correspondence, and prepare outgoing mail.

• Review files, records, and other documents to obtain information to respond to requests.

• Train new employees on company policies, procedures and protocols.
