Research Experience
Graduate Project - M.Tech. Dissertation June, 2011 – Present
“Simulation LTE RLC sublayer in OMNeT++ using MiXiM Framework" LTE (Long Term Evolution) emerged as the winner among the competing 4G standards. It is important to simulate such systems, as the investment is really huge. LTE user plane data link layer consist of PDCP, RLC and MAC.
Since RLC is one of the trickiest layer, in this work we simulate LTE RLC (Radio Link Control) sublayer Transparent and Unacknowledged mode of communication in OMNeT++ using MiXiM framework as per the 3GPP specification. Delay sensitive applications such as VOIP, VIDEO streaming and Paging information utilizes these two modes. Loss sensitive applications like HTTP, FTP utilizes acknowledged mode. OMNeT++ is an popular open source network simulator, that has been widely used by the researchers and academicians. One of the main motivating factor was to contribute to open source.
Graduate Project - M.Sc. Dissertation Nov, 2009 - March, 2010
“Study of Statistical Methods in Speech Enhancement” Objective of this work is to make a thorough study on the Statistical Methods such as MMSE, MLE, MAP for estimation. These methods are applied in various fields such as Radar, Speech coding, Sonar, Communications, Speech Enhancement etc. In this work we studied how statistical methods can be employed to eliminate the noise from the noisy speech. In particular we employed MMSE (Minimum Mean Square Error) STSA (Short Time Spectral Analysis) estimator. Key algorithms are implemented using MATLAB.
Work Experience
Summer Internship - Midas Communication Technologies,
Chennai April-May 2009
This summer internship focused on the implementation and testing of algorithms for Call Admission Control in Wireless Networks. Call Admission Control plays a vital role in providing Quality of Service (QoS) in Wireless Communication Systems. The algorithm implemented was based on offine data analysis and history of call handoffs. Summer Internship - Indian Institute Of Technology, Chennai April-May 2011 This summer internship mainly focused on getting hands on experience on networks simulators, in particular OMNeT++. Which we used in simulation of LTE RLC sublayer.
