As part of the Information Systems Division (ISD) Data Ingestion team at the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) I was responsible for developing and implementing the Automated Gap Data phone call system to retrieve missing daily tides and current data from collection port stations around the U.S. Daily reports per station are created and used to identify potential problems in data used to make predictions and forecast.
Other duties include support of the Data Ingestion software, establishing requirements, monitoring data ingestion flow, resolving trouble tickets, updating/converting legacy software, user support, and assisting in the future software modernization of the data ingestion software process. These duties are facilitated by the use of PERL, Shell Scripts (Cshell/BASH/KORN), JAVA, FORTRAN, C, SYBASE DB, UNIX, LINUX, MS-Windows platforms, Kermit.

Responsible for developing post-processing software for the U.S. Navy’s Naval Surface Warfare Center’s Acoustic Intercept System (AIS). This software allows naval operators to replay Navy submarine tracking missions, utilizing FORTRAN, ‘C’, and Silicon Graphics for real-time simulation. This also allows the operator to perform data analysis, track correlation, detection correction, theory analysis, target classification, and other intelligence functions necessary to complete successful U.S. Naval operations.
