•M.S. Ceramics Science and Engineering, Rutgers, May 1993.

•B.S. Materials Science, Chulalongkorn University, Thailand, April 1988.

Research and Work Experience:

2010-2011 Research Associate (University of Maryland)

Detector System Branch, NASA-GSFC, Greenbelt, MD.

•Involve in PIPER array development and fabrication for Transition Edge Sensor

Achievement: Sputtering deposition of Mo/Au bi-layer with reproducible Tc.

•Fabrication of Fresnel lenses for imaging X-rays from Solar Flares

Achievement: Obtain Fresnel lenses with fine angular resolution.

•Involve in initial Graphene research setup.

1997-1999 Postdoctoral Associate (Oak Ridge Associated University)

Solid State Division, Oak Ridge National Laboratory, Oak Ridge, TN.

•Formulation, fabrication, and microstructure optimization of Lithium Manganese Oxide and Lithium Cobalt Oxide thick-film cathodes used in solid-state rechargeable lithium batteries.

Achievement: Drastically reduced undesirable crystalline orientation in LiCoO2 cathodes by using sol-gel synthesized powder or tailoring organic additives in tape-cast slurries. Produce sinterable LiMn2O4 cathodes by using a sintering aid.

1990-1997 Graduate Work

Ceramics Science and Engineering Department, Rutgers University, Piscataway, NJ.

•Optimize high solids loading for water-based tape casting of Alumina and Aluminum Nitride substrates.

Achievement: Obtain extremely high solids loading of 73 vol% in suspension and of 63 vol% in tape cast slip for Al2O3. Successfully formulate aqueous AlN suspension of 52 vol% solids loading with minimal degradation and thermal conductivity of up to 153 W/m.K.

•Investigate optimal dispersants, processing and liquid phase sintering of Silicon Carbide.

•Study of the effects of rare earth on the electromechanical properties of modified Lead Titanate.

Achievement: Identify that the Gd-rich second phase causes zero kp in modified PbTiO3.

1989-1990 Research Assistant

Department of Materials Science, Chulalongkorn University, Bangkok, Thailand.
