OVERVIEW OF QUALIFICATIONS

I have over 20 years of experience working as an IT consultant and project manager for large corporations. My experience covers a broad range of tasks from software system design and coding to program maintenance and project management for division level projects as well as sub-project management for global efforts.

I have extensive experience working with executive management representing all business functions in solving the challenges presented by rapid and planned growth in a business. As well as designing and implementing business intelligence and custom publishing systems for use within corporate intranets and extranets.

The following professional experience details the types and breadth of work performed.

PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE

The McGraw-Hill Companies – Primis Custom Publishing 1991 – Present

IT Consultant, Project Manager, Application designer

• Since 1991, I personally, and my company under my direction, have been responsible for the design, coding and maintenance of all aspects for Primis Custom Publishing a division of The McGraw-Hill Companies. This includes client/server applications for order maintenance and administration, specialized web applications for the design of custom textbooks, distributed printing solutions, digital rights management, content management and eCommerce solutions. The following are some highlights of projects managed directly by myself in reverse chronological order:

o Subject Matter Expert for the CREATE project, McGraw-Hill’s next generation custom publishing platform

 I have been providing subject matter expertise on how to organize and implement distributed print models, personalized partner ecommerce sites and data integration between the Primis platform and McGraw-Illl’s ERP and other financial systems.

o Redesign and deployment of the Primis eBookstore

 Headed a small team of five which included myself, three programmers and a graphic artist

 Responsible for all interaction with the client including needs analysis, progress reporting and change order management.

 Responsible for delivering the project on-time and in budget

o Integration with corporate system for inbound customer feeds

 Lead for a three person team which included myself and two programmers

 Responsible for all interaction with the corporate programming team which was primarily based in Ohio and India.

 Responsible for design, oversight of coding and testing for database interfaces between the Oracle systems

 Worked with the corporate team on the technical and functional specifications for the feed interface. This includes the inbound feed as well as its effect on outbound data from Primis to corporate ERP and financial systems.

o Migration of all systems from a ten digit ISBN to thirteen digit ISBNs maintaining compliance with international standards for book numbering and identification.

 Team leader for a five person team including myself and four programmers.

 Responsible for functional and technical specifications as well as change order management

 Responsible for design of new interfaces with corporate ERP systems as well as data integrity for derivation of new thirteen digit ISBNs while maintaining existing ten digit ISBNs

 Project involved mitigation of approximately 500,000 lines of code across PC, web and database applications

 Responsible for design and oversight of all testing including user acceptance testing and validating all the test data with the users and other stakeholders

o Design and deployment of an Enterprise Content Management system for managing in excess of 175,000 pieces of content

 Identified target ECM system for the client

 Implemented the system for client

 Determined client requirements and designed the schemas for content repositories

 Redefined interfaces for web based applications which needed to access content in the repositories

 Performed ROI studies for the client

o Design and deployment of a database driven catalog system for the Primis Online web application

 Responsible for eight person team which included myself, two programmers from Fallon, two technical staff from the client and three additional stakeholders from the client

 Performed all needs analysis with the client

 Created technical and functional specifications

 Designed the underlying database

 Created data migration plans and code for the data migration

 Assisted with web applications coding

 Assisted with coding of desktop applications for maintaining the database

 Planned and executed the product launch, cutover and sunsetting of the old product

 Responsible for all progress reporting to the client as well as maintaining timelines and budget.

 Responsible for change order management

o Integration of all Primis systems with The McGraw-Hill Companies global ERP system based on Oracle Financials

 Team lead for Primis running a group of 4 programmers and acting as point for Primis with the Global integration team

 Responsible for all functional and technical specifications

 Responsible for ensuring the team met some very stringent deadlines which if missed would have cost the corporation millions of dollars

 Responsible for designing the databases and all new interfaces between the systems

 Planned and executed the data migration

 Planned and executed the system launch, cutover and sunsetting of the old system

 Assisted with web application coding

 Assisted with desktop application coding

 Responsible for progress reporting to the local client as well as maintaining timelines and budgets

 Responsible for all progress reporting to the Global Integration team.

 Responsible for change order management

o Redeployment of all Primis systems as a client/server application using an Oracle back-end

o Design and implementation of the Primis eBookstore; an eCommerce system for students to purchase custom textbooks and deliver them electronically within a digital rights management framework.

o Design, coding and implementation of highly specialized document assembly software.

o Migration of all Primis systems from a DOS environment to Microsoft Windows platforms

o Migration of Primis systems from standalone DOS applications to a networked application run in a small division

Dress Barn – Suffern, New York 2004

IT Consultant

• Designed and managed the implementation of a corporate wide Intranet for the distribution of announcements, centralized email, store reporting and electronic forms processing.

• Managed the implementation of the Dress Barn eCommerce site.

Jones Apparel Group – New York, New York 2002 to 2004

IT Consultant

• Implemented a web content management system for Jones Apparel Group web properties

• Designed, implemented and maintained an intranet for Jones Apparel Group

The Nine West Group – White Plains, New York 2000 – 2004

IT Consultant, Oracle programmer

• Designed and implemented a Microsoft SharePoint Services application for tracking store opening, maintenance and shut down activities.

• Implemented a web content management system for Nine West Group web properties

• Maintained the Nine West public financial website and Intranet

• Designed and managed the implementation of an n-tier application for reporting on store activity, sales and expenses.

• Performed all Oracle coding for a store business intelligence and data-mining application

• Designed, coded and managed the implementation of a specialized Intranet which ran on store POS terminals. This system allowed for the distribution and online completion of human resource forms as well as the collection of store activity and sales data.

Gestetner Corporation – Greenwich, Connecticut 1987 – 1991

IT Consultant, Application designer

• Managed the deployment of computer networks in offices across the country.

• Designed the corporate telecommunications network providing Gestetner with savings in excess of one-hundred thousand dollars per annum

• Managed the nationwide deployment of a customer service application for the servicing of copiers and other office equipment

• Designed, coded and maintained a proprietary customer service application for Gestetner

• Designed, coded and maintained a proprietary ERP and logistics system for office equipment used in sales
