Developed a turnkey service for Tandem NonStop clients that enable them to use Remote Database Facility (RDF) for Disaster Recovery purposes as well as to move systems or upgrade systems without taking an extended application outage.

ExxonMobil Operations management, SQL Database management and RDF management. We physically moved 2 systems from Europe to the US without an outage. I did first level support, system tuning and troubleshooting. Also installed AutoTMF and AutoSync.

Kosdaq (Korean Stock Exchange). Disaster consulting. We developed techniques to dramatically reduce the amount of data lost in an unplanned takeover.

America Online I developed a procedure that enabled them to convert to format 2 tables without taking an outage using a custom version of Remote Database Facility (RDF). This reduced the probability of a service outage due to file size restrictions. AOL had become a critical account at the highest levels of Compaq management because of the high visibility of the potential problems.

3/1983 to 7/2002 Tandem Computers Inc. Tandem was acquired by Compaq Computer Corporation. Compaq was acquired by Hewlett Packard Corp.

Member of ZLE (Zero Latency Enterprise) team specializing in Business Continuity Services. Only US based consultant within Compaq providing disaster planning services. Clients included Sprint, AOL, Nation’s Bank, Kaiser Permanenti. For Mobil Oil we developed and executed a plan to move the critical 7x24 gas pump credit card authorization system from Kansas City to Houston with only a few minutes outage while communications were rerouted. For Key Bank we created a Emergency Recovery Plan for their International funds transfer application. We travelled to the backup site and executed the plan under the supervision and scrutiny of internal auditors. For Exxon we set up a disaster recovery site for the Paris and Houston operations in a remote data center. For Greyhound Lines we planned and executed their movement from older generation hardware for ticketing to current S-Server technology using quick takeover disaster planning techniques. Consulted with Sabre for their disaster planning needs. Assisted Direct-TV in setting up disaster recovery procedures for their billing systems. Disaster planning at Mirage Resorts Las Vegas. RDF implementation planning and training at Nation’s Bank, Richmond VA. Disaster recovery planning and implementation for Sprint in Kansas City and Reston Virginia.

Senior Account Analyst. Customer support responsibilities for several clients. Included are banks, railroad, and multiple software houses. Presale activities included benchmarks, demonstrations, and several presentations. I was actively involved with software developers in preparing to market their product.

7/1979 to 12/1982 Technical Manager. Directly responsible for marketing support activities in metropolitan Chicago. In the presale area I had responsibility for technical presentations demonstrations and benchmarks, proposal preparation and equipment selection. After the sale I was responsible for system installation contract programming projects and troubleshooting. I was also responsible for the Chicago datacenter and word processing systems. Managed a staff of 15 senior systems analysts.

3/1971 to 7/1979 Technical Advisor/ Senior Technical Advisor

Specialized in large-scale systems, H-6680 database and transaction processing systems. TDS IDS TPE GCOS III maintenance optimization and installation. Responsibilities included long term project management trouble shooting training presale demonstrations and presentations. Projects include: Illinois Secretary of State: 1 year H-6080 conversion assistance, program debugging and optimization, and project leadership. Talman Federal Savings and loan Association: I was instrumental in the sale of a Honeywell 66 series computer for "FUNDS", an on-line system for thrift institutions. I became the project leader on the planning and installation of the hardware software and software modifications. Became expert on Customer Information Systems, Mortgage Loan Accounting and on-line Savings. The system made exclusive use of IDS database and Transaction Driven System (TDS). I designed and wrote several database utilities including a data dictionary.

11/1968 to 3/1971 Systems Manager/ Systems Supervisor

I was responsible for the sale of a computer system to Roper Corporation, a large manufacturing company. I was responsible for the conversion at the account which was an eighteen month project with 5 to 7 Honeywell personnel in addition to 10 to 12 customer personnel.

7/1964 to 7/1966 United States Army. Worked on Honeywell large scale equipment implementing a generalized military pay system. I wrote an automatic Zip Code generator and became a specialist in program debugging and operation of the Honeywell-800. Honorable discharge as a Sp5.
