SLC Consulting (at Biogen Idec) – Cambridge, MA June 2010 – August 2011 Mechanical Engineering Consultant, working with Validation and Facilities Management

• Consulted as part of a five-man consulting team consisting of all mechanical engineers

• Performed validation and verification testing on Biogen’s Cryo-freezers, as well as ran troubleshooting on problem units

• Created and updated P&ID drawings for the facilities staff

• Planned, coordinated, and oversaw HVAC maintenance work

• Organized and ran training sessions for outside facilities contractors

• Performed training organization and verification as per internal and FDA standard regulations for 200+ outside contractors, maintenance workers and vendors

DEKA Research & Development – Manchester, NH July 2009 – December 2009

Experiential Education Coop (six month internship), Quality Assurance group

• Designed a complete set of validation procedures for a new in-development product

• Drafted test procedures directly with the product design team as the product’s specs evolved

• Supported other departments and projects as needed

• Collaborated with senior staff from multiple disciplines on a special after-hours design project

• Proposed one of the final three design options for the special design project as part of a team consisting of a senior engineer, an industrial designer, and myself

• Taught myself Pro/E, and used it to assist in designing a subsystem for the final special project

Experiential Education Coop (six month internship), Quality / Systems engineering group

• Ran the validation / QA test lab, and to assisted a senior systems engineer with validation testing

• Designed and ran QA testing for previous product lines, as well as in-development designs

• Designed new test fixtures and test housings for IPXX water-ingress testing

• Worked extensively with outside test companies in order to coordinate UL, CE, ESD, and Vibrational testing

• Participated in top-level design-review & manufacturing release meetings as a QA representative

Kostas Center for Micro and Nanomanufacturing - Boston, MA May 2007 – June 2008

Northeastern University REU (Research Experience for Undergraduates) Summer Intern

• Selected to design a machine used to manufacture new tips for an atomic force microscope, which resulted in significant cost savings over purchasing tips

• Took initiative to teach myself SolidWorks to design and machine

• Led design review meetings and collaborated with other interns and engineers

• Evaluated three machine shops and negotiated best price and schedule for manufacture

• Created machining blueprints from the 3D model and inspected the completed parts

• Wrote a Standard Operating Procedure and presented a final report to the lab directors

• Requested by management to continue on as a work study in order to finish testing of the primary project, and to begin design for a retrofit of a Perkin-Elmer Thermal Evaporator device

University Experience and Projects

Senior Capstone Design Project: Prosthetic Ankle – Boston, MA April 2009 – May 2010 Group Manager, Northeastern University

• Chosen by my peers to lead a team of five Mechanical Engineers (including myself) in a year-long design project to finalize the design of a prosthetic ankle

• Personally optimized the design of the ankle actuator mounts to increase power transmission

• Handled all group logistics, including organizing meetings with members and Northeastern faculty, writing weekly status update meetings, and ordering parts and supplies

• Helped group members by designing parts using SolidWorks and creating machining blueprints

• Personally machines all metal parts and assemblies

• Wrote the main thesis paper, as well as designed the poster for our final presentation

Machinist – Boston, MA January 2009 – May 2010

Mechanical and Industrial Engineering machine shop, Northeastern University

• Machined parts based on prints submitted by students, grad students, professors, and businesses

• Experienced with 3-axis vertical mill, lathe, band saw, press, and other tools
