Working for Broadcom India Tech Pvt Ltd from May 2012 to till date.
Project Brief: The Fastpath Unified Access Point is a WLAN device which
supports IEEE 802.11 standards along with the various networking and
administrating features. This projects aims at developing a major new
features such as 11ac along with other wireless features to the existing
legacy software. I have involved in providing the serviceability and 11ac
updates to the WLAN driver. As part of maintenance, I was involved in WMM
certification, IPv6 certifications by providing the necessary changes/fixes
to the software.
The Fastpath UWS is a Unified Wireless Switch, which provides the
centralized access to UAPs. The UWS resembles the NMS in various aspects
but works using the proprietary protocol for messages exchanges. In this
project, I have provided the necessary 11ac support at UWS.
2. Fastpath Networking Software Development
Worked for Broadcom India Tech Pvt Ltd from Dec 2011 to Apr 2012.
Project Brief: The Fastpath Networking Software is an integrated software
which supports various features for high speed wired and wireless devices.
This project aims at developing the 40G high speed switch on a Linux
platform using the multicore hardware. I have provided the essential
support in fixing the multicore and hardware issues along with necessary
fixes for the customer. In this project, I got an opportunity to explore
the design of a wired product end-to-end.
3. Access Point Software Development
Worked for Proxim Wireless Pvt Ltd from Jan 2011 to Nov 2011.
Project Brief: For the product AP-800/8000, new software features are
developed in this project. The WLAN features such as Site Survey, Dynamic
Channel Selection etc are developed in this project. Apart from this many
networking features are also developed. Mainly involved in the WLAN
features design, development and testing in the project. Other networking
modules are also handled in parallel.
4. Wireless Mesh Software Development
Worked for Proxim Wireless Pvt Ltd from Jan 2010 to Dec 2010.
Project Brief: The product, Orinoco AP-8000MR, wireless mesh device is
developed in the project. The proprietary mesh protocol called, MESHMAX is
used in developing the Mesh Points. The Mesh topology has different nodes
which are used for different functionalities. The AP based chipset and
platform are used for Mesh nodes development. Mainly involved in the
application side development for the Mesh nodes and implemented the mesh
monitoring trees at driver level. Changes and fixes are done for the Mesh
topologies in the driver level.
5. Wireless Multi-Point Software Development
Worked for Proxim Wireless Pvt Ltd from April 2009 to Dec 2009.
Project Brief: The products Orinoco MP-8100 and Orinoco QB-8100 are the
devices developed in this project. Both MP and QB are based on the
proprietary protocol called WORP (Wireless Outdoor Router Protocol) used
for Point-to-Multipoint and Point-to-Point deployments. The WORP is
implemented on the 11n based chipsets. Mainly involved in the complete
application support and networking support. Cross-compilation of different
open source applications and implementing on the device is done. Also,
involved in the driver level bug fixes including ethernet driver.
6. Modules Development for Access Points
Worked for Proxim Wireless Pvt Ltd from July 2008 to April 2009.
Project Brief: The Orinoco AP-800 and AP-8000 are IEEE 802.11n access point
is developed on a new platform. The build system is developed from the
scratch which has all the modules supporting the configuration and working
of 11n access point. The third party chipset drivers and management
application tools are used for the wireless functioning and configuration.
The configuration is provided through SNMP/WEB/CLI interfaces. The SNMP
versions v2c and v3 are developed. Customizing the various open source and
third party applications for the local build system, framing the
requirements from the different modules to form a MIB (Management
Information Base) was done. Also, the linux system firewall (using
iptables) is implemented for IP and protocol level security.
7. WiMAX Standard MAC Layer Development
Worked for Sloka Telecom Pvt Ltd, Bangalore from Sep 2007 to June
2008.
Project Brief: WiMAX is a standard based on IEEE 802.16 protocol, IEEE
802.16d is Fixed/Nomadic WiMAX. It is a wireless technology that replaces
all existing DSL and coaxial cables with wireless. It has higher data rates
upto 20Mbps.
MAC layer modules are developed and worked on SNMP feature development
such as MIB and interface etc. Bug fixing is also done for the MAC and
network layer modules.
8. WiMAX Standard Conformance Testing
Worked for Sloka Telecom Pvt Ltd, Bangalore from Jan 2007 to July
2007.
Project Brief: Conformance testing is done to test the system with the
standard. Conformance test cases are implemented for WiMAX base station
with IEEE 802.16d standard. Test scripts are written in bash language and
executed. The break points and necessary scripts are inserted in the C code
to check the required parameters.
Performance and field testing are done to test the connectivity
and performance of base stations and subscriber stations. As a part of
field testing, troubleshooting and fixing the issues of WiMAX setup is done
at the DRDO labs.
9. DSP BASED BPSK DEMODULATOR
Worked at Indian Space Research Organization, Bangalore (M.Tech
project) from Sep 2005 to May 2006.
Project Brief: The BPSK demodulation can be done using the Costas loop
technique. The implementation of BPSK demodulator in digital domain gives
the advantage of programmable filters. The low pass filters in the Costas
loop are made programmable using programmable FIR filters algorithm.
The programmable FIR filters, loop filter, NCO, adders and mixers are
implemented in digital domain. A keyboard interface for entering the cut-
off frequency with display is made using the microcontroller. The digital
signal processor ADSP 21062 (Analog Devices) and microcontroller ATMEL
89s52 are used in this project.
10. VOICE OPERATED SWITCHING OF REMOTE DEVICES
Worked at Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore (B.E. project) from
Dec 2003 to Apr 2004.
Project Brief: The project entitled "voice operated switching of remote
devices" is basically used to switch ON/OFF any electrical/electronic
devices located far a part from the user. The two major sections in this
system are Automatic Speech Recognition System and DTMF Remote Control
System.
The ASR (Automatic Speech Recognition) can be done through MATLAB.
The spoken digit is recognized first and a corresponding signal is
generated through the parallel port of the computer. The signal from the
parallel port is given to the DTMF encoder, which generates a corresponding
DTMF signal and the same is transmitted through the FM transmitter. At the
receiver end, FM receiver detects the transmitted signal and it is decoded
to BCD using DTMF-BCD decoder. The obtained BCD signal is used to switch
the devices through relays. The system can switch up to 12 devices.
