In all positions at UMC I wrote detailed training guides for students and new employees and met all continuing education and proficiency testing requirements. At each position change I learned new procedures, instrumentation and techniques.
• Hematology Testing in hematology, coagulation, and urinalysis both automated and manual. Assisted in bone marrow collection. Served as Inspector with CAP team. Earned a pay bonus for cost-saving ideas. Performed specialized procedures and stains.
• Virology Testing in virology, including IFA/DFA stains, cell cultures, shell vial cultures and EIA. Analyzed specimens by culture, DFA and EIA testing for Chlamydia sp. Set up and read cultures for Legionella sp., C. difficle and Mycoplasma/Ureoplasma sp. Obtained patient samples for testing. Managed inventory and ordered supplies. Maintained sterility and viability of cell lines.
• Generalist Assisted in validation of Laboratory Information System software. Special procedures in Transfusion Services. Radiation Safety Training.
• General Supervisor – Second and Third Shifts
General supervision of the entire laboratory and 8-22 employees covering second and third shifts. Performed stat and routine testing in hematology, coagulation, urinalysis, chemistry, microbiology, and transfusion service.
