|Description |Telecommunications Information System. This |
| |system is responsible for billing and producing |
| |an invoice for all QWEST costumers for a set of |
| |services including Voice calls, Internet etc. All|
| |services are currently billed by way of events. |
| |Metered events depend upon the duration of |
| |service (voice, data etc) used while Non-metered |
| |events include service charges, installation |
| |fees, monthly rental etc. |
| |The call made by a customer generally goes to the|
| |local telephone exchange, or Local Exchange |
| |Carrier (LEC), which routes the call made by the |
| |QWEST customer to a QWEST switch. The switch |
| |records the call details and periodically |
| |transmits a batch of records to Call Record |
| |Processing (CRP). |
| |"Initial pricing" attempts to price all the call |
| |records as they are received. Some calls may be |
| |suspended, but most of the calls are successfully|
| |priced. This price is by no means the final price|
| |of the call that the customer receives. The Cycle|
| |Processing module distributes the Call records |
| |into different cycles ( each cycle being a set of|
| |customers having a cut off date for invoice |
| |generation ) At cut off date ( different for |
| |different cycles ), all the calls go through |
| |promotions, volume-sensitive discounts, |
| |revenue-based promotions and discounts to come to|
