As a member of the Data Center Consolidation Division (DCCD) team I am one of project managers and subject matter experts (SME) responsible for providing oversight of the implementation of the DHS data center consolidation plan in support of the Federal Chief Information Officer’s (CIO) federal data center consolidation initiative. Our team is tasked with providing oversight, support and coordination activities necessary to facilitate the non-disruptive migration of IT Infrastructure capabilities of their customers to the two Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Enterprise Data Centers. The plan included a technical roadmap and approach for achieving the targets for infrastructure utilization, energy efficiency, and cost efficiency for telecommunication systems and services.

Data Center Management:
• As a member of the DHS ITSO Data Center Consolidation Division I was responsible for providing strategic direction and solutions for facilities best practices for the DHS datacenter and its subcontracts under the ITNOVA contract within the OCIO (Office of the Chief Information Officer) at the Department of Homeland Security.
• I provided reporting to the Hill on Congressional, White House, and Secretary level executive inquires. I was responsible for daily operations, network engineering and integration, enterprise architecture compliance and transition as it relates to the Federal Enterprise Architecture (FEA). I was responsible for planning and development of business functions, best practices and standards, change management, security policies and procedures for technologies that are implemented enterprise wide supporting all of the twenty two DHS components.
Configuration & Change Management:
• As a member of the DHS ITSO Risk management Division, Configuration & Change Management Group I was tasked with providing Configuration, Change Management, Quality Control, and Quality Assurance for DHS and its Components.
• Working towards the goal of “One Network”, “One Infrastructure”, “One DHS” to protect and insure the integrity of the Information Technology and its configuration items, thru the implementation of the Infrastructure Change Control Board, ensuring that IT infrastructure changes are planned, engineered, tested, coordinated, and approved prior to their release by providing quality change impact analysis and successful change implementations of mission-critical systems, applications, and networks.
Wireless Telecommunications:
As a Senior Wireless Services Support Analyst I was responsible for wireless technology projects, especially focused on the homeland security, defense, and civil government markets. I assisted government clients and contributed to the project team supporting program missions by applying the prevailing wireless technology and management best practices and executing tasks in the areas of wireless management, strategic planning and analysis, requirements and technology assessments, costs/pricing analysis, acquisition support, implementation planning, risk management, and policy case studies.

• I was responsible for the day-to-day operations, the development, implementation, sustainment and optimization of iConnect Montana’s multiple mission-critical enterprise data center facilities across Montana, assisting with the design, marketing, promotion, sales and quality of iConnect Montana’s products and services while maintaining and achieving iConnect Montana’s mission, strategy, and its short and long term goals and objectives.
• I coordinated the design and the construction of iConnect Montana’s data centers. In particularly, the construction of a 43,000 sq. ft., Tier III style datacenter (Collocation Facility, Fiber Hotel). Where through the efficiency of design, maximizing the use of standard off the shelf equipment and technology, a significant savings was realized (upwards of about $20 Million), while attaining a design with highly reliability (minimization of single points of failure, i.e. a Tier III+ type design). Then by participating in a nationwide competition, demonstrating best value and high reliability, captured the business of several international companies (Expedia, Hotwire and Live Journal).

• I developed one of the first broadband Internet (DSL) line of services and was responsible for its successfully launch into the market place through the use of strategic partnerships, building a base of business to business customers.
• I designing and architected a region wide internet service ATM network. This resulted in a significant reduction in the cost of the network services, while expanding the overall network capacity.
• I assisted with corporate acquisitions and mergers. I developed strategic partnerships and key alliances with CLECs to achieve significant savings via access to wholesale services.
