Experience:
Retired Navy Senior Petty Officer, E-6, Mess Management Specialist. As a Mess Management Specialist I have managed dining facilities on shore and afloat, overseeing personnel from 20 – 250 in various foodservice positions. I have also supervised or managed in the preparation of meals for two dinning facilities, which averaged preparing 18,000 meals a day in 24/7 operations. A Mess Management Specialist (MS) operate and manage Navy foodservice facilities and living quarters established to subsist and accommodate Naval personnel; estimate quantities and kinds of foodstuffs required; assist Supply Officer in ordering and stowage of subsistence items and procurement of equipment and mess gear; check delivery for quantity and assist medical personnel in inspection for quality; prepare menus; plan, prepare, and serve meals; maintain food service spaces and associated equipment in a clean and sanitary condition, including storerooms and refrigerated spaces; maintain records of financial transactions and submit required reports; and maintain, oversee, and manage quarters afloat and ashore. During my military career I was also assigned collateral duties as an “On Scene Leader” for shipboard firefighting. I was responsible for leading a firefighting team to control fires and damage in specific sections of a ship; this required me to use my creative, analytical and critical thinking skills; keeping my team members and the ship from harms way. Since my retirement from the Navy in 1995, I have held numerous positions in customer service, IT Telecommunications, Project Management, Residential Construction, HVAC, Dispatcher and in a first line supervisor or management position. I hold two college degrees; AA in Computer Science with a concentration in Computer Networking and a BA in Business Administration with a minor in Computer Networking and I am in pursuit of a Masters Degree in Business Management.
