Selected Research Projects
Polytechnic Institute of New York University (NYU-POLY)
Master of Science (M.S) January 2010 August 2010
* Detection and classification of walking patterns in Physical Therapy patients - This project aims at developing algorithms for counting the number of steps during walking using accelerometer-based smartphones and in-shoe insoles. The purpose is to assess the reliability and validity of accelerometer-based smartphones in assessing physical activity.
Jadavpur University Kolkata, India
M.Tech Research Scholar May 2008
* Stability Analysis of the Classical Ant System: The project provides an analysis of stability for the classical ant system by considering different forms of pheromone deposition rules by a set of m ants in a single unit interval between time t and (t + 1). It reveals that the basic ant system is stable when the input pheromone deposition is bounded.
* Detection of mouth opening, eye opening, and eyebrow constriction from human facial Image: In this project distinguishing the lip region and nonlip region from the image is accomplished by means of Fuzzy C-means Algorithm. Eye opening is done by template matching. Finally, we measure the eyebrow constriction using variance of the average intensity of the forehead pixels.
