Project Material Manager
• Responsible for the overall management of a core group of Project Specialist that manages materials/inventory for large EPC projects in the petro/chem and the oil/gas and energy sector. Project oversight from engineering design thru fabrication and construction. Project sizes ranging from 10 Million - 1+ Billion dollars. Domestic experience with strong interface with Engineering disciplines, Procurement and Construction.
• Recruited, trained and coached a team of 42 support personnel. Included equipment coordinator, Material Management system coordinator, toolrooms, runners, equipment operators and riggers, and warehouse support staff. Result: The team has received and distributed more than $500MM of materials with 97% accuracy.
• Manage purchasing and expediting of materials and equipment for a 100MM SCFD Hydrogen plant project.
• Led the company’s initial project to purchase and receive material in the field. Major contributor to create and implement a set of policies and procedures to for the receiving/purchasing/material management process. Result: The program is a model for future CB&I projects.
E.R. Carpenter, LP, Pasadena, Texas
Maintenance Buyer / Warehouse Manager
• Coordinated the parts and equipment scheduling for a tank farm piping project. The project required 11 pumps and piping to a railcar loading rack. Worked with vendors and negotiated prices, coordinated onsite storage and scheduled the cranes and equipment. Result: The project was completed 12 days ahead of schedule and $30K under budget.
• Designed and implemented an inventory management system for the parts warehouse. Conducted an initial inventory and identified scrap and worn parts for disposal. Established a floor plan with location numbers. Established a parts numbering system to aid in inventory control and introduced a bar code system. Result: Created a well-organized, functional warehouse, improved inventory management and effectively supported plant projects.
• Eliminated antiquated and outdated equipment. Inventoried existing control system parts after a plant upgrade to a DCS system. Returned parts to vendors for credit, sold parts to surplus providers and donated some to technical schools for tax write offs. Result: Decreased inventory by $97,000, thereby saving taxes and brought the inventory current with plant requirements.

Contract purchasing and warehouse services for three fine chemical plants in the South Texas area - E.R. Carpenter, Pasadena, Atochem, Beaumont and Syngas, LaPorte.

• Revised and managed the purchasing and vendor approval systems for Atochem to ensure ISO certification of the plant. Reviewed the existing vendor/ supplier lists and culled all non-ISO vendors and established accounts with new vendors. Result: Brought the warehouse operations in compliance with ISO requirements.

• Evaluated the purchasing/quote systems and negotiated one year locked-in pricing for consumables for E.R. Carpenter.
