Worked with business partners in research to develop strategy, plan and budget for IS projects and systems to support approximately 600 scientists.

• Coordinated solution development and vendor selection, including analysis of requirements and business case spanning 8 functional areas within 3 business units: Discovery Research, Translational Sciences and parts of clinical and commercial manufacturing (approximately 3,000 scientists) with stakeholders in regulatory affairs, infrastructure and legal, resulting in the Executive Committee approval of a 3-year, $28 million phased implementation program designed to yield FTE cost savings in the first year after completion of between $17 million and $20 million.

• Collaborated with business partners to evaluate and document business process changes and related IT system changes after an extensive reorganization, resulting in recommendations for a technology strategy that was adopted by the new organization’s Executive Committee.

• Responsible for broad range of informatics projects such as:

• Laboratory information management system (LIMS) upgrade and data capture automation, with a designed annual reduction in FTE costs of $300K and improved usability, data integrity and regulatory compliance.

• Coordination and business case for SAP Pilot Plant operations project (Thousand Oaks, CA and Bothell, WA), with a designed annual ROI of $300K+ as a result of reductions in FTE and wasted materials.

• Directed an initiative for renewed adherence to the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC) to turn-around a $3.2M GMP Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) project that was burdened with uncontrolled consulting costs and frequent schedule delays. As a result of this initiative, consulting costs were controlled, timelines were met, business users received high-quality deliverables in a predictable manner and the LIMS project was completed within budget.
