VOLVO TRUCKS OF NORTH AMERICA, Dublin, Virginia (1999-01; 2006-09)

 Production Supervisor / Lead Supervisor (Volvo Cab Line 2006-09)

Recruited to return to Volvo in managing 1st shift Cab Line assembly with 33 union employees. Within one year, absenteeism was reduced 50% and Quality audit points were reduced to exceed goals. In addition, performed key role in consolidating the Mack Cab Line with the Volvo Cab Line.

Accepted position as Training Supervisor in 07. Within this role, led 24 Trainers throughout the plant implementing Technical Training in all facets of production. In addition, facilitated VPS (Lean Manufacturing) classes daily for plant personnel; hourly and salary and led Training initiatives for the start up of the new Engine Line.

Accepted position as the Supervisor of the Engine Line in 08 consisting of 44 employees. This position is rewarding while implementing change management. Along with compliance and policy duties, Lean with Team Work Groups was of the focus.

As 1st Shift Production Supervisor, managed personnel (training, supervision, time/attendance, new-hire evaluations, grievances) . . . safety . . . compliance (ISO 9000, ISO 14000) . . . quality and assembly line operations (daily re-balancing of line/tasks to meet production goals, averaging 92 trucks/shift).

 Analyzed daily KPI reports, implementing corrective action (processes/workstation assignments) to ensure achievement of corporate goals for quality, safety and delivery precision and costs.

 Training/quality focus led team to increase daily audit “quality” points 50%.

 Started and continually improving Team Work Groups within a non-promoting culture.

 Production Supervisor (Volvo Chassis Line 1999-01)

Flexibility and expertise quickly resulted in additional management responsibilities: managed “absentee pool,” coordinating plant-wide staffing to fill workstation vacancies; managed Final Repair (quality issues, parts shortages) to ensure quality products and on-time shipments; managed 1st/2nd Shift production lines.
