SyncTV offers a service delivery platform for OTT internet video providers. Its system allows IP video service companies to deliver video to connected consumer electronic devices such as iPhones, Palm, Blackberries, Android phones, Blu-ray players, Roku, and connected LCD televisions. Responsible for VC relationships, customer acquisition, strategic alliances, technology partnerships and corporate development.
Hewlett-Packard, Office of Strategy and Technology 2006 – 2009
Business Development and Technology Licensing
Responsible for monetizing technologies developed by HP Labs, HP Software, and EDS through licensing, technology sales, or the creation of spin-out companies. Identified licensable or saleable technologies, built business plans and forecasts for monetization programs, structured and negotiated deals. Developed monetization programs for technologies related to mobile phones/NFC, Blu-ray discs, lead-free solder, web middleware, EDA tools and many other leading edge technologies.

Envivio manufactures MPEG4/H.264 broadcast video encoders, VOD servers and middleware for the IPTV, Cable TV, Mobile Video and DBS markets. ClairVoyante develops and licenses PenTile technology, which improves performance and lowers the cost of flat panel displays. Responsibilities included establishing commercial patent licenses with Asian flat panel display manufacturers and creating pull through demand from OEM manufacturers.

BigBand manufactures a broadband MPEG/IP multimedia router/switch for the CATV, IPTV and wireless, markets. Responsibilities include establishing strategic alliances, OEM/Distribution partners, technology licensing, contract negotiations and acting as a first line, in-house legal department.
• Established a formalized partnership process.
• Negotiated an OEM agreement with BarcoNet, Europe’s largest digital cable TV equipment vendor.
• Drafted and implemented multiple standardized company agreements, including, NDAs, Reseller Agreement, Product Evaluation Agreement, OEM Agreement and Contractors Agreement.
• Established a strategic alliance with OpenTV, the developer of the world’s most widely deployed interactive television software.
Harmonic, Inc. 1997 – 2001

Harmonic manufactures and markets fiber optic transmission equipment and MPEG digital video equipment to the CATV, telecom, broadcast and satellite industries. Key responsibilities included establishing strategic alliances and executing M&A deals
• Executed three acquisitions, including the $1.7 billion acquisition of DiviCom, a leading supplier of MPEG video equipment. The DiviCom business unit now generates over 70% of Harmonic’s revenues.
• Established numerous strategic alliances with companies such as Thomson, Panasonic, NDS, and Sagem.
Hyundai Electronics America (now Thomson/Technicolor) 1994 - 1997
Executive Director, Business Development, Digital Video Systems Division (DVSD)
Co-founded HEA’s Digital Video Systems Division, which developed set top boxes for satellite and cable TV. Responsible for establishing strategic alliances, joint ventures and identifying acquisition candidates. Co-wrote DVSD’s business plan for the entry into the digital video set top box, and video server businesses. DVSD was sold to Grundig and then to Thomson. This division now generates over $400,000,000 in revenues.
• Identified TV/Com as an acquisition candidate. Lead member of acquisition team. Developed business case for the acquisition to HEA’s senior management. Conducted due-diligence on TV/Com’s business plans, product development, contracts and strategic alliances as a key member of the HEA acquisition team.
• Negotiated regional supply contracts for Italy, Belgium, The Netherlands and the Middle East with Nethold, Europe’s largest pay television system.
• Negotiated and wrote an OEM Supply Agreement between HEA and two of Germany’s largest consumer satellite receiver manufacturers.
• Secured a strategic alliance with LM Ericsson Company to market end-to-end solutions for digital video cable systems in Italy.
Compression Labs, Inc. (CLI) 1990 - 1994
Director, New Business Development, Broadcast Products Group
CLI was a pioneer in videoconferencing and digital video compression. I was responsible for finding new applications for CLI's video compression technology in the broadcast, cable, direct broadcast satellite (DBS), video-on-demand, and multimedia industries. Secured sufficient NRE and supply contracts so that Broadcast Products Group could be established without internal CLI funding.
• Successfully negotiated a $1.5 million R & D contract and a $14.2 million supply contract for a broadcast-quality, Motion Pictures Experts Group (MPEG) digital video compression system for the Hughes DirecTV DBS system.
• Secured a $1.5 million R & D contract and a supply agreement to provide video compression products to Philips' cable and consumer electronics divisions. Subsequently, negotiated a strategic alliance between CLI and Philips Consumer Electronics to co-develop and co-market video on demand set top boxes.
• Procured a $3 million contract to develop and supply MPEG video encoders and decoders with Bell Atlantic for the world's first test of video-on-demand services over ADSL.
• Co-negotiated a $14.9 million investment in CLI by Thomson.
• Successfully negotiated strategic alliances between CLI and AT&T, Reliance Comm/Tec, PairGain, Oracle, Westell, Thomson, Philips, and On-Demand Technologies.
Carillon Technology, Inc. (CTI) 1989 - 1990
Vice President, Technology Licensing
Responsible for all aspects of CTI's Patent Licensing Business. Managed a portfolio of over 60 patents, including dbx type I & II noise reduction and dbx noise reduction for stereo television. Conducted all license negotiations. Lead all technology sales and marketing activities. Maintained corporate patents and trademarks.
• Increased royalty collections by 20% in less than one year.
• Identified and collected back-due royalties on 589,000 televisions.
RCA/General Electric/Thomson Consumer Electronics 1981 - 1989
Manager, Television Product Brand Management
Responsible for developing the Strategic Marketing and Products Plans for RCA and General Electric color television products, including brand positioning, target pricing, and product line structure.
