Hawker Beechcraft - Lead Engineer for Integrated Avionics Upgrade Program (2009-Jan 2012)

Development/Certification of integrated cockpits for Hawker Beechcraft aircraft. Lead a team working Electrical/Avionics part 23 certification. Duties include:

Specification, design, implementation, and flight test for avionics/electrical systems (Electrical, Autopilot, EFIS, Mode S Transponders, Fault Detection and Reporting, etc). Responsible for supplier selection and oversight, including technical and contract issues. Special projects included drag reduction and outfitting aircraft for operations outside the United States.

Honeywell Defense Aerospace Systems – Principal Avionics/ Systems Integration Engineer (2003-2004)

Contract Position. Development of a Flight Management System (FMS) targeted for military airlift and refueling applications. Responsible for systems integration (FMS/Autopilot/Displays) and customer interface.

Honeywell Business/Regional General Aviation – Principal Avionics/ Systems Engineer (2002-2003)

Contract Position. OEM Focal for Embraer 170 version of Flight Management System (FMS). Responsible for FMS build management, systems integration and customer interface. Provided support for FAA/JAA DO-178B certification, and pilot training.

Sensor Technologies and Systems – Independent Consultant (2000-2002)

Development of embedded code in C language for small RADAR systems. Tasks included antenna control, CAN automotive interface, use of DSP for signal processing and high-speed data collection. Heavily involved in system architecture and component selection. Assisted with hardware design.

Honeywell Commercial Aerospace Systems – Principal Avionics/ Systems Engineer (1997-2000)

Contract Position. Development of a Dual Flight Management Computer system for commercial aircraft. A significant part of my work was the analysis of the architecture and capabilities/vulnerabilities of the dual implementation. Also performed guidance testing.

The Implementation of a remotely controlled Parametric Equalizer using the Motorola 56000 Digital Signal Processor.

Digital Equipment Corporation

Embedded software for disk certification. Implemented largely in ‘C’ with some assembly language as necessary.

Western Pumping Systems

PC Application software for display and analysis of data gathered by remote logging systems. Implemented with 'C' language. Also implemented a PC-based irrigation control system using RS-422 remote data acquisition modules. The application software was written in Visual Basic and incorporated a Microsoft Access database for logging purposes.

Three Phoenix Company

Chief architect of embedded system software for disk certification system. I convinced this company to switch from assembler to ‘C’ Language for embedded systems development. Assisted in proposal preparation and presentation.

JSTronix

Systems Integration/Software port of a 68000-based controller for semiconductor wafer polishing equipment. Other projects included C++ (Borland IDE environment) software to control pipe provers for calibration of flow meters and a Visual Basic application to test touch screens.

Scottsdale Insurance Company

Developed typical Client/Server business database application for tracking insurance policies using SQL database and Visual Basic front end.

TKM Inc.

Developed software for control of a navigation/communications radio for general aviation aircraft. Implemented with Z80 assembler code. Developed software for an avionics test set using ‘C’ language.
