Resume:

Dear Sir or Madam:

Please consider me for an opening you have for a Unisys MAPPER/TIP/DMS/DML/COBOL/ECL programmer. A derivation of ALGOL and NELIAC, NELCO, is also a language we used at Eastern Air Lines. I am experienced, can begin immediately and am open as to salary requirements. I have a self-contained travel trailer I can use to save time and avoid relocation expenses.

I worked for years in the Computer Sciences Division of Eastern Airlines in and Miami, doing both systems analysis and systems and applications programming on very large mainframe systems and would like to return to that profession. In this capacity, I did Systems Analysis work and made changes to existing COBOL and assembler programs as well as writing new programs and testing them before putting them on-line. While working for Eastern Airlines, I was formally trained on Header Analysis for real-time transactions at the IBM education center in White Plaines, New York. Also, I attended the Sperry/Univac (Unisys) school in Houston, TX on programming Relational Databases(DMS,DML,RDML,TIP), and while at Fredrickson Motor Lines I attended the AT&T school on telecommunications in Cincinnati. Programming languages used have been BAL, SPURT, COBOL, RPGII, RPGIII, MAPPER, CICS, JCL, ECL, TIP, DMS, RDMS,TIP and machine languages for both IBM and Sperry. I am also familiar with the MS suite of programs, as well as SYSDRAW and VISIO.

Please excuse this lengthy cover letter. I want to give you as clear a picture of my work experience as I can.

I am a hard worker, a quick learner and get along well with others. While with Eastern Airlines, I became the only person in Eastern's 50+ year history who, as a member of management vested in retirement, quit and was re-hired by Eastern. I don't say this to brag, but to show the value an employer placed on my dedication, work ethic and skills. Unfortunately, shortly after being re-hired, Eastern Airlines declared bankruptcy and went out of business.

I have had extensive experience developing and documenting software on one of the most complex airline systems in existence, the Eastern Airlines Flight Management System. In this job, I documented software I created, and as a systems analyst interviewed other members of the 200+ staff and wrote up documentation on all software used in the system. This included input/output handlers and processors, external and internal interrupt handlers, nightly update routines, miscellaneous operating systems programs and applications programs, files and records. Programs involved were time-initiated, predecessor-scheduled, real time for on-line transactions and batch.

I have also written detailed descriptions of network functions and topologies for the past fourteen years, for an infrastructure installation company. Another Technical Writing task I accomplished was the creation, distribution and updating of manuals defining "Standard Operating Procedures" for a large multi-state LTL freight carrier running an on-line, real-time system. These manuals also included examples of fixed-format computer generated and/or computer recognized messages. At the time of distribution of these manuals, I traveled to each remote location and did user training. When working for Eastern Airlines, I did updates to Eastern's "Standard Operating Procedures" manuals when an area in which I made changes to transactions affected descriptions contained in the manuals. I routinely traveled to remote user locations to analyze needs of user groups and write up these needs for consideration as applications to be automated.

I am a BICSI certified RCDD, which helps when proposing BICSI, industry and EIA/TIA-standard projects and when communicating with others in the industry.. I earned my RCDD accreditation in 1993 and have kept it current ever since. I renewed it for another three years this January at the BICSI conference in Orlando.

I have designed, written proposals for, sold and managed structured cabling projects of all sizes and complexities for twenty years. As you will see in the attached copy of my resume, I have had extensive involvement in all phases of IT. This makes it easier to relate to and communicate with others who are involved with a different segment of the IT world and with other user groups.

In 1996, I founded a ground level startup company, installing structured cabling systems. We have been quite successful over the years, but the recent tough economy has taken its toll on our customer base (mostly manufacturing). Most of our customers have either gone out of business or moved their operations overseas. I have decided my best option is to turn our company’s operations over to our area manager and go to work for someone else.

As I have been self-employed for the last fourteen years, the most recent employer reference is Rody Gibbs, who owned Data Connections, Inc. in Greensboro, NC. Either he or his wife, Nancy, who was very involved in company operations, would be happy to discuss with you my job performance.

A copy of my resume follows. Please feel free to email or call with any questions you might have. I can be reached by email at *********@***.*** or by phone at 1-704-***-****. If I were to miss your call, just leave a message and I will call you back. I am available to begin work at your convenience. I am open to furthering my education if that is required for this job. I have had over four years of college but at various places and times and do not hold a four-year degree.

I look forward to hearing from you.

Thank you for your time and consideration.

Sincerely,

Paul Andrews, RCDD

Note: Included below is more detailed information on some of my experience with structured cabling design and management.

SOME EXAMPLES OF INFRASTRUCTURE PROJECTS WE HAVE COMPLETED:

Brach & Brock Confections, Chicago: Customer could not decide how to upgrade their cable plant because the building had been added onto so many times. It had grown to become the largest candy factory in the world, covering about four city blocks, up to eleven stories high in some places, had a railroad through it and a five story office building attached by a multi-floor breezeway. They hired me to design their new cable plant and to write an RFB for interested bidders. My company ended up winning the bid and installing the new system. We installed fiber from the MDF in the administrative building to four IDF's in the same building and to thirty-one IDF's in the attached plant, Twisted-pair cable was installed from each IDF to drop locations. Brock was so pleased with the results they had us to do the same at their Chattanooga plant.

DSC Logistics: Installed 4-pair, 25-pair, 50-pair, 200-pair copper and single-mode and multi-mode fiberoptic cables in seventeen large high-security warehouses and distribution centers. Wireless line-of-sight equipment was installed for communication with other buildings in complex. One building in Allentown, PA is six-tenths of a mile long. Engineered and installed sleeving and firestop materials to satisfy very high (15-hour) fire wall ratings in Richmond, VA.

Galey and Lord Industries, Inc.: Textile Mills. Cabled all domestic mills owned by Galey and Lord. Included MDF, IDF and network design as well as fiberoptic and copper backbone cables connecting closets. Designed and contracted with metal fabrication shop to manufacture stainless enclosures with positive airflow for support of computer terminals in plant area.

Merita Bread/IDF Bakeries: Did all kinds of cabling in large commercial bakeries in SC, NC, GA and TN. Adjusted and fine-tuned paging systems to be audible in very noisy environments.

Francis-Marion University: Worked closely with manager of academic computing to design and install a campus-wide fiberoptic backbone. Various cabling installation and equipment sales projects; some bid and some as a preferred vendor.

Paul Andrews Resume Page 4 of 4

Conway Hospital: Recabled practically every department in the hospital. Included twisted -pair and fiberoptic. Set up new IDF's as needed. Reworked rack assemblies in computer room. Worked with DP manager in planning communications link to new addition to hospital.

Brunswick Medical Center: Extensive cabling throughout the hospital. Contracted for underground directional boring from main hospital building to clinic buildings across the street.

Tuomey Regional Medical Center: Recabled departments in the hospital as well as remote medical buildings in other parts of town and in a second town. Provided data communications equipment.

In other projects, we have installed overhead as well as buried backbone cables, some along with conduit, connecting multiple buildings. We have also done trenching, backhoe work, pavement cutting and repair, and conversions from twinax and coax to twisted-pair with associated electronics. RS232 cables and mod-adapters have been installed in a number of sites. In another project where a Governor's School for Science and Math doubled in size, we engineered and installed Valcom paging equipment to function compatibly with existing equipment. In this same project, we extended cable TV to the new wings and installed wiring for access control to dormitory, classroom and office doors. We have also installed cameras and associated wiring in schools, stores, malls, and businesses.

Having owned and managed my own network installation company for fourteen years, I am very careful to insure all work is done properly.
