Work Experience:

Passport Systems Billerica, MA June 2007 – Present

Science Team Associate Scientist

Non-Invasive Nuclear Threat Detection using Electron Accelerators with Multiple Detector Systems.

• Created innovative data analysis package using Matlab to assist in analysis of multiple detector subsystems. Used extensively by algorithms development group to monitor progress and identify areas of weakness in threat detection.

• Designed test plans and performed numerous tests at accelerator test beds including detector shielding studies, detection capability testing, ion chamber performance, and beam tuning stability. Duties for these runs include running the accelerator, data analysis, constructing test setups, crisis management, and system construction. All in a dynamically changing environment requiring high levels of attention to detail over extended periods of time.

• Used techniques such as Principle Component Analysis, K-means clustering, Image Processing, Image Stitching, Machine Vision, Detector Energy Calibration and more to improve the overall detection capabilities of contraband materials.

• Summarized the results of complex multi-dimensional data sets in a concise and clear way such that a general audience could gain a complete appreciation of the data.

• Contributed documentation and PowerPoint slides to several sections of Critical Design Review including Algorithms, Data Analysis, and several different detector systems.

• Assisted science team in bringing about a successful test of our proof of concept to DNDO.

• Simultaneously worked on multiple large scale projects. Successfully managed workload from each in a fast-paced, highly-aggressive, and flexible startup environment.

E Ink Cambridge, MA May 2006-June 2007

Analytic Technology – Device Performance Group. Engineering Assistant

Developer of Revolutionary Electronic Ink Technology. (Used in Amazon Kindle)

• Created new hardware and software tools for statistical analysis on testing equipment to more rapidly and accurately retrieve relevant data.

• Key member in the development of custom in-house software to be implemented in new Electro-Optical bench design to be used by vendors in quality control assessment tests.

• Primary liaison with experimenters to the Electro-Optical lab. Responsible for organizing, prioritizing, designing, revising, and creating new experiments and experimentation methods.

• Integrated new SQL queries into existing procedures to streamline data retrieval process

Northeastern University Advanced Scientific Computation Center June 2005-May 2006
