Work Experience
Safe Flight Instrument Corp., White Plains, NY, Mechanical Engineer 06/10 - Present
• Current project lead for aircraft ice detection research and development project; responsibilities include preparing and conducting weekly project meetings, delegating tasks, performing wind tunnel tests, fabricating prototypes, analyzing heat power requirements and designing an airborne HD camera mount
• Performed linear stress analysis on HD camera mount and presented results to upper management for flight approval
• Co-creator of mechanical redesign for low cost version of production aircraft sensor
• Fabricate aircraft sensor prototypes using alternative materials to reduce heat requirements in icing conditions
• Initiated the investigation and integration of advanced FEA and CFD software packages; tasks include presenting opportunities for design improvement, test driving trial software, providing examples of design optimization and preparing return on investment estimates
• Proposed and implemented redesign of pressure test fixtures; replaced all bolted connections with toggle clamps and proved design performance through FEA simulation; process overhaul resulted in substantial reduction of man hours required to perform the tests
• Collaborate with electrical engineers on a regular basis to better understand electrical requirements and difficulties
Sigma Design Company, LLC, Springfield, New Jersey, Junior Engineer Co-op 05/08 - 12/08; 05/09 - 08/09
• Performed FEA stress analyses on pressure vessels, steel structures, medical devices, gaskets and clutch plates; also performed thermal studies analyzing the heat dissipation of electrical devices
• Compiled detailed reports for clientele which clearly explained the FEA approach to making engineering decisions, the results of the FEA and design recommendations based on the FEA results
• Used COSMOS Motion 2009 extensively to quantify the available energy of a mechanical system for comparison with real test data captured using DAQ software ($45K)
• Designed a preliminary reversible ratcheting drive system for an original prototype with proper gear ratios and shear pins as determined by engineering calculations ($30K)
• Generated an electrical design package for a client’s prototype including schematics created in MS Visio, Gerber files, a complete BOM and a working prototype of the electrical circuit, soldered in house ($30K)
• Fabricated many successful on-the-fly subassemblies which were necessary when the prototype design varied from the production design but still had to perform the same functions
• Redesigned a filtration system after which the total product cost was reduced by over 20% ($7K)
• Detailed drawings of machine components with proper tolerances and fits
Tishman Construction Corp. of NJ, Newark, New Jersey, Project Engineer Co-op 08/07 - 12/07
• Responsible for document control procedures, including RFIs, submittals, and transmittals using Primavera Contract Manager for Hoboken Ferry Service Phase II Project (Hoboken, NJ; $53M)
• Developed contractor submittal requirements log for the NJ Transit New Wheel True Facility Project (Hoboken, NJ; $16M) based on contract technical specifications
• Performed construction inspection and Quality Assurance review on concrete beam repairs and other punch list items
• Prepared cost estimates for various contract change orders and bulletins
Frutarom USA, North Bergen, New Jersey, Assistant Flavor Chemist Co-op 01/07 - 05/07
• Formulated new food and beverage samples to show off natural and artificial flavors for trade shows
• Introduced new flavor database using MS Access
