I have over twenty years experience as a programmer. I started my career
at a small company (formerly Universal Computer Systems, Inc.). The
company (now Reynolds & Reynolds) was the largest seller of software for
automobile dealerships in the world when I left. I started writing mainframe
applications (batch and online) using dumb terminals and ended writing COBOL
applications that ran on PCs under the Windows environment. My group was
responsible for writing programs that established communications with a host
to exchange data. This group won our company’s Programming Group of the Year
in 1994. I also won an award as a small group of select programmers that
wrote an application in less than two weeks to gather, collate and download
information from a dealer’s system to GM. My last five years were spent
working in the applications that applied pricing to a dealer’s entire parts
inventory where accuracy was critical. I was known for my testing and
wrote guidelines for testing applications.
