Punj Lloyd Business Performance Management (BPM) was an initiative to standardize and get the disparate BI applications into one common platform- Hyperion BPM 9.3.
Punj Lloyd is a Big name in diversified businesses covering different locations all over the world. The objective of the implementation was to have the Consolidated Financials of all its entities spread across globe from a single platform. Financial Management application serves Statutory, Management Reporting along with Account wise reconciliation between management and Legal Figures.
The duration of first phase of the project was 6 months. Project deliverables included 01 Hyperion Financial Management Application with complex business logic implemented through VB script rules on the lines of Indian GAAP & IFRS GAAP and Financial Reporting as per the guidelines of various government agencies.
The duration of second phase was 2 months. Second phase was started as initiative of bringing the data from their Oracle EBS – Integration into their Hyperion Application directly from their Oracle Database rather from getting the data from the flat flies .
Hyperion Consolidation application was a multiple currency Application that reported financial statement of Punj Lloyd taking in to account its holding in other 37 Legal Entities spread across the world.
I was a team member and developer of the project and the onsite coordinator for the project. I was also responsible for gathering and analyzing requirements and getting signoff from satisfied customer. I was also responsible for providing all the trainings to the Finance user and the IT Team.

Daar Al-Arkan Real Estate Company ( Riyadh , Kingdom of Saudi Arabia ):
Given the broad nature of the group’s activities, each business division was maintaining financial data separately in a manner that was not consistent with the rest. Transactional data was captured for 18 legal entities, 61 sub-projects under the main Company, which consumed a lot of time. Their existed multiple cross shareholdings and multiple legal entities within a single business group. A lot of inter Company transactions existed across the Group.
Moreover, current reporting was based on consolidated data with no drill-down to underlying information, and the IT team was spending a great deal of time tailoring reports to meet specific user requests. IT also had to spend a lot of time managing legal Compliance of Saudi Laws, SOCPA and IFRS Accounting Standards.
A major need for the company was addressing all user interests by defining rules, having figures in multiple currencies, segment-wise reporting, besides having robust internal controls in balances due to change in ownership percentages.
Oracle Hyperion Financial Management was implemented to improve consolidation and inter company transaction activities throughout the organization. With easy access to this tool, employees have become more accountable for consolidation; inter company elimination, currency translation and validation of data. Employees can more clearly identify abnormalities and correct them when necessary. The Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) were also implemented to monitor the qualitative data.
In partnership with Oracle Hyperion Consulting Services, the implementation team successfully designed and implemented Oracle Hyperion Financial Management on time and within the budget. In addition to developing a consolidation tool, implementers created a more robust reporting tool that allowed users greater flexibility and control in fulfilling their reporting requirements.
Project deliverables included Hyperion Financial Management Application which consolidated data per corporate hierarchy but also provided features for other GL segments reporting like regions, line of business and customer and channels.
Data was directly integrated from the Oracle EBS to the Hyperion Financial Data Quality Management and later to the Hyperion Financial Management for consolidating the data with the Drill – back functionality to the lowest GL Level providing the data to be viewed at the lowest granule level.
I was one of designer of BI platform. My team successfully delivered Hyperion Financial Management Application, integration with Oracle EBS , Consolidation rules that took in to account ownership percentages of different subsidiaries, multicurrency translations and calculation of Non Controlling (Minority) interests. I was in total responsible of delivering the technical documents, design documents along with imparting user training to the end users . I got appreciation mail from client and from the onsite project manager.
Financial Reports were developed to report the consolidated figures to Group Consolidation and Corporate team.

IDEA Cellular Ltd. (Mumbai, India ):
Hyperion Financial Management was implemented in IDEA Cellular along with a numerous Hyperion products like Hyperion Planning, ODI etc. on the Business Performance Management Suite.
IDEA Cellular is one of the flagship companies of the Aditya Birla Group based out in Mumbai with spread across INDIA.
Hyperion Financial Management was implemented to streamline their consolidation process across the India offices with the data being based out in multiple sources. The key pain areas of their consolidation were with the Intercompany re-conciliations and the moving of data from the consolidation application and the planning application.
I worked as a Team Leader with the support team of 3 people for the Hyperion Financial Management application. My task was to provide support to the all India IDEA Offices for the application. Daily tickets raised out of IDEA Offices regarding the support issues were needed to be closed on daily basis. My task was to ensure that tickets are closed on daily basis. He was also involved in the weekly status meetings with IBM Team in IDEA.

Cargill Foods India – BI Implementation:
Cargill Foods India is a leading food products giant having office world wide. Cargill Foods have a large number of products which include a number of domestic products.
Cargill Foods required a complete reporting requirement to cater the needs of Top management reporting from their JD Edwards system which resides in the US Geography.
The motive of the BI Implementation was to fetch the relevant data from the JD Edwards database and to prepare a datawarehouse using the Star Schema terminology. Once the key data was identified, the KPI’s were selected basis on the requirement and analysis phase.
The next part of the implementation included the SAP – Business Objects. The Business Object Universe Designer was used to design the Universe based on the selected KPI’s. Once all the required KPI’s were covered in the Universe the Web Intelligence Infoview & Xlcesius were used for the reporting of canned reports & Dashboards.
I was a responsible for the making all the Reports using Web Intelligence Infoview along with making the canned reports identifying all KPI’s.
GEIIPL – HFM Implementation:
The GE India wants to implement HFM to consolidate their data from various LOB’s across INDIA to get the reporting numbers at the INDIA Level. As of now, all the LOB’s for the GE report to their respective headquarters and the consolidation team sitting in the US for the Statutory & the Management reporting. The GE India does not have anything as of numbers to judge what numbers they are at with India level. HFM Implementation will provide the numbers and the confidence to analyze the numbers across India level apart from their reporting in US.
I am working as a Technical in HFM Implementation providing them with the architecture over complete solution to set up the Hyperion Environment. The Environment will be accessed across all over India and the server will be based out in the Data Centre of GE.
The current project is in the phase of requirement analysis and understanding the Business on the basis of As – Is Process of GE – India Pvt. Ltd.
