My role in a particular project is virtually always as the Project
Manager/Director, or as the Project Geologist or Principal Investigator,
depending on the focus of the program. As a Project Manager and Site
Manager, I am experienced in handling project budgets in excess of $10M and
program budgets in excess of $100M with more than twenty project
professionals, along with professional, technical and heavy-equipment
subcontractors.

Project Director
. Preparation of environmental-permit applications for large industrial
operations
My activities center on groundwater geology and geotechnical site
investigations. I am familiar in detail with subsurface investigations,
and with groundwater investigation and analysis in all of the major
geologic terranes, including:
. Karst mapping and flow
. Confined/unconfined
. Isotropic/anisotropic
. Homogeneous/inhomogeneous
As a Site Manager and Principal Investigator for field investigations, my
activities and experience range from the Bahama Platform to the Rocky
Mountains, from Iceland's lava fields to Puerto Rico's rainforests. In all
of these diverse areas, I successfully manage field teams occasionally
exceeding 100 personnel in accomplishing the objective, as well as various
scientific, technical and heavy-equipment subcontractors.
With dominant specializations in the fields of engineering geology and of
environmental geology, engineering and regulatory affairs, I also have
considerable experience in traditional geologic practices, particularly in
the development and protection of groundwater supplies. Throughout my
career, my investigations of and site management for interdisciplinary
scientific and engineering programs concern the presence and effect of
hazardous chemicals (including chemical warfare agents) and radioisotopes
in ground and surface waters, and in soils.
A variety of clients comprise my representation for consultation and
technical services, including: Large and small industrial corporations;
legal firms and regulatory agencies; nuclear and conventional power-
generation stations; and federal and local governmental administrations.
These services range through preparation of programs for: Regulatory
compliance; design of remedial action programs; technical Quality
Assurance/Quality Control; design and evaluation of secure (chemical and
radiological), and municipal and industrial landfills; evaluation and
development of groundwater resources; protection of coastal groundwater
supplies from salt-water intrusion; and precision investigation of natural
and artificial subsurface structures for geotechnical stability.
Across all phases of projects, my personal responsibilities begin with the
preparation of the technical program and budget, and continue through the
detailed execution of the program to the preparation and presentation of
the final report, both to the client and to any government agency concerned
with the program.
Throughout my career, I consistently introduce innovative technologies to
the professional practice of the firms with which I work. Similarly, I
maintain proficiency with traditional methods of geologic and geohydrologic
analysis to verify the products of innovative technologies and to promote a
more complete understanding of the details of investigations by all project
personnel.
