I was a part of SAP Business By Design SCM Module.

Project : OmniPCX Enterprise (Communication server switch)

Project Description:

The OmniPCX Enterprise (Linux version) is a communication server switch based on an IP data network infrastructure. The OmniPCX Enterprise is an integrated communications solution for medium sized business and large corporations.

It combines the best of the old (legacy TDM phone connectivity) with the new native IP platform and support for Session Initiation Protocol (SIP)) to provide an effective and complete communications solution for cost conscious companies on the cutting edge. It involves various modules like Call handling, Switching, MAO, Features, Infrastructure, IP Coupler and Non IP Couplers.

Call Server is a software program that runs with LINUX. It has the configuration of each system element. It also stores the current status of each element in memory (set, trunk, trunk group, etc.). For example a set may be at idle, ringing or calling. When an event occurs (set off hooked for example), it is sent to the Call Server by the Media Gateway. According to configuration and status, the Call Server decides on the operations to be performed. In case of an idle set being off hooked, it can decide to send the dialing prompt tone. The order is transmitted to the Media Gateway via the IP network.
