Built the primary datacenter in the Netherlands and a disaster recovery site in Canada. Global offices interconnected via MPLS/IP-VPN and site-to-site VPN. Certificate based authentication was used for offsite end-user VPN connectivity.

Migrated away from HP and EMC to NepApp as a common SAN/NAS storage backbone.

Within my responsibilities, I hired and managed technical resources, designed and built infrastructure and processes, established technical guidelines for the company's software infrastructure, and led the architecture of the suite of MLB sites. MLB.com went from serving 20 million users in 2001 to 120 million on opening-day 2004.

Re-architected the infrastructure from 3-tier to 2-tier eliminating the application server layer and its associated session management complexities. Created a Java library for credit card processing using Cybersource API and Paymentech for credit card fulfillment. Built an e-Commerce system that allowed MLB.com to sell on-line subscription based multimedia products. Struts was used for workflow management. The system encapsulates the LDAP, database and payment systems.

Implemented a unified messaging interface for the electronic trading system. The messaging infrastructure was built using Java Messaging System and SmartSockets.
