Professional Experience:

Martinrea International, Inc., Hopkinsville KY

Program Manager 2011 - current

Martinrea, headquartered in Canada, is a supplier of heavy stamped and welded assemblies for OEM applications. My responsibilities include managing cross-functional teams, relative to new launches, along with APQP activity, capital planning, capacity planning, and equipment and tooling purchases and the respective facilities modifications. I am also the primary customer contact for my program responsibilities.

• My primary focus has been on the launch of GM’s Alpha GMX272 program which consists of 2 models. The product is a Rear Frame Support Cradle, consisting of 18 stampings, and approx. 20 purchased components. I direct our launch team, as well as our supplier base related to the model, towards accomplishing a successful launch in regards to testing, dimensional capability, and timeliness. We are design responsible as well as suppliers of all prototypes.

WEBASTO ROOF SYSTEMS Inc., Lexington KY

Corporate Quality Manager 2009 – 2011

Webasto, headquartered in Munich, Germany is a major global supplier of automotive sunroof systems supplying OEM auto assembly operations around the world. My responsibilities included managing Quality and Tooling Engineers along with our suppliers in order to streamline launch preparation activities and APQP activities.

• I wrote and enforced our APQP system for all suppliers, while also participating in corporate TS audits, managing all suppliers and their preparation activities toward successful launches on all new programs, including their part dimensional status, capacity capabilities, overall part quality, and PPAP submission status. This was done either by myself personally or via one of my engineers. I also worked with my engineering staff to assist problematic or high risk suppliers to accomplish the desired quality levels necessary for use in our assemblies.

Engineering Manager, Quality Manager & Maintenance Manager 2004 – 2009

Webasto, headquartered in Munich, Germany is a major global supplier of automotive sunroof systems supplying OEM auto assembly operations around the world. My responsibilities included supplying stamped and welded roof assemblies and components to automotive OEM's. I managed all aspects of Quality, Engineering, and Maintenance for the facility.

• I assisted launching this facility from the ground up, including green field launches on 9 programs for Ford, GM, and DCX, while also maintaining quality levels below 10 PPM the entire time. Also, I exceeded all past experience from sister facilities in thoughput and labor requirements, and maintained the facility, equipment, and tooling via my PM program and skilled trades colleagues.

SHILOH INDUSTRIES, Dickson TN

Engineering Supervisor, Manufacturing Engineer, GM Program Manager 1999 – 2004

Supplied stampings and welded assemblies to various customers, almost entirely automotive related. I setup processes and equipment, and I supervised and coordinated the engineering change system and changes as they occurred.

• Participated in launching a 55 part program to a Tier I auto manufacturer, worked on eliminating the need to maintain excessive quality sorting labor via continuous improvement projects, some as a participant and some as the leader, implemented various cost saving projects and other capital projects, and helped troubleshoot quality issues as needed. Presented results and process corrections to customers as needed, and tracked implementation of engineering changes to ensure accomplishment of quality, timing, and budgetary requirements along with process documentation and MRP setup. Aslo managed GM business as Program Manager, including all functions related to commercial, engineering, and process. I also worked closely with the Quality department for various problem solving studies including 8D's for our customer.

CASLONIC NORTH AMERICA, INC., Shelbyville TN

Manufacturing Engineer, Plant Program Manager 1997 – 1999

Supplied complete exhaust systems for automotive OEM by stamping, welding, and CNC bending processes. I setup processes, designed and procured equipment, managed GM programs, and reduced variation and costs in the process.

• I participated in many Kaizen events to reduce labor and process costs and improve throughput and profitability. Robotic programming and fixture design were fundamental skills I used to improve processes, and I performed several analytical studies to reduce process variation. I setup and continually monitored SPC charting along with using statistical tools to accomplish this. I maintained all process documentation as well as compiling quotations for new business, as well as insourcing and setting up a painting process for our product. I also participated in the PDT team for evaluation of new product designs for manufacturability and cost avoidance.Process improvements on assembly equipment (cast metal turntables and core machines), improving overall equipment effectiveness (OEE), reducing labor and automating systems through robot installations.
