Professional Experience
Key career contributions as: Mainframe Systems Programmer ~ IBM * Senior Applications Developer ~ Galileo International * Software Design Consultant ~ Information Engineering Inc.
IBM, Englewood, Co. 3/07 ~ present
Systems Analyst, TPF Online Coverage Group
Provide superlative technical support to our customer’s online systems, their development staff and our operations and systems groups.
Analyze and monitor system performance, investigate software deficiencies and provide system dump analysis.
Coordinate and oversee software implementations. Provide assistance, support and guidance to a variety of cross functional groups.
IBM/Galileo International, Englewood, Co. 7/96 ~ 3/07
Systems Programmer, TPF Host Systems Group
As a member of the Host Systems Group I contributed to the team by providing prompt analysis and correction of systems related problems and implemented IBM supplied software enhancements, specializing in the areas of Direct Access Storage Devices and Module Copy utilities. Helped build, assemble and implement new Control Program versions to the production systems.
Was a key contributor in the DASD farm migration project where our client converted their entire DASD storage farm to IBM SHARK disk storage systems. At the request of the operations group I developed a new multiple module DASD formatter utility. This utility allows up to 15 packs to be formatted simultaneously over multiple processors. Previously only 1 pack could be formatted at a time on a single processor. The results were a 15 fold decrease in the total time needed to format the new modules. This new utility also provides automation that frees the operator from manually mounting and naming each pack, thus eliminating the chance for errors and saving up to 3 minutes per pack in reduced operator commands.
Provided support to the Capacity and Planning group by participating in the design and mapping of channel path interfaces to DASD control units and switches to provide balanced I/O to DASD sub-systems.
Provided support to the Hardware Installation Team by analyzing and modifying IOCP’s and assigning Channel Path Addresses using IBM’s CHPID Mapping Tool.
Information Engineering Incorporated, Denver Colorado 4/95 ~ 7/96
Software design consultant
Put my COBOL programming skills to work to help the employees of Colorado Compensation Insurance Authority use and improve their policy holder system. Routinely met with individual staff members to discuss their workflow and examined ways to make it better.
Consulted with my team members and supervisors and together implemented fixes and enhancements to make our client’s work easier and more productive.
Here I programmed in COBOL writing on-line and off-line code. I extensively used CICS, TSO, VM, IMS/DB2 and ISPF. Used and wrote JCL as needed.
COVIA/United Airlines, Englewood, Co. 3/89 ~ 4/95
Senior Programmer Analyst
As a member of the team responsible for United Airlines Advanced Seat Reservations I designed, coded, tested and loaded TPF applications from individual programs to complex systems written in IBM 370/XA Assembler language.
Performed detailed analysis of existing applications and participated in the creation of new business requirements. As a team we created system designs using structured design concepts and presented the designs to various user/review groups. Additionally I worked extensively with end users to develop system test plans.
Served as a technical team lead on the “Link ASR” project where we provided advanced seat reservations over the SITA link to Air France. During this year long project our leadership team coordinated programming tasks, conducted design reviews and routinely met with our counterparts at Air France to review status and discuss issues.
