PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE
Software Consultant – Tester / Project Quality Lead, Configuration Manager (CM) Jan 2008 – Dec 2009
Capgemini, Mumbai, India
Client Description: EDF Energy is one of the largest Electricity and Gas suppliers in London
Domain : Energy
Roles : Tester and Project Quality Lead (PQL)
Responsibilities include:
Role: Played the role of Project Quality Lead (PQL) and Configuration Manager (CM) for team size of 21. I was required to prepare quality related documentation on monthly basis which included tracking phase wise data, utilizing metrics data, calculating schedule variance, effort variance and causal analysis of defects found. Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) methodology and Waterfall Model was used for the project. For CM activities, I was required to check whether all the project related documents were in place with appropriate versions. Source forge tool was used for CM.
Developing Business Requirements and Strategy Deployment: Understanding the requirements, writing the test conditions and test scripts, test environment set up, test data preparation, test execution and problem reporting, capturing test evidences and preparing End of test reports.
Development Plan: Coordinating with business for conducting User Acceptance Testing (UAT). This involved identifying the key business stakeholders to participate in the UAT, helping the business to see that system meets all their requirements, developing test scripts and supporting the business for which this system was designed.
Communication: Coordinating and managing communication with multiple offshore groups on daily status report, new deliveries in pipeline and resolutions on raised issues.
Training: Significant contribution to the project by preparing the learning’s document after each Change Request and conducting the knowledge transfer sessions, both one-to-one and classroom training for the other team members.
Software Engineer / Mainframe Programmer June 2006 – Jan 2008
Infosys Technologies Limited, Pune, India
Client Description : Worked for Data ware housing project for Wachovia which is one of the largest banks of U.S.A.
Domain : Banking
Roles : Module lead and developer
Responsibilities include:
Analysis and Design: Analyzing the impact of the change on the system and designing new codes after receiving the business requirements from the client
Coding: Coded in languages like COBOL and JCL (Job Control Language). The data received from the source systems was raw data. I was required to write COBOL code to process the received raw data as per the client requirement. Apart from this, the coding phase involved creating copy books for the output files, Parmcards, Procedures and JCLs to take backup and to sort the files. I had to create JCLs which calls the COBOL program, which holds the business logic. During unit testing phase I was required to create Unit test plan and Integrated test plan which contain the test cases. Negative test cases were also considered. The output files from Mainframe were required to be sent to the downstream which was the server side (Oracle) by using JCLs. All the components of a particular requirement were then packaged and staged in Changeman, which is a configuration tool, and then sent to production after it is base lined.
Testing: Used tools like File-Aid for verification of the file logic
Promotion: Change-man for promotion and packaging
Client Interface: In this project, most of the work at onsite was handled by the client and hence it was required to directly interact with the client on day to day basis. Status reporting on progress achieved and strategy used to achieve the quality deliverable was discussed through telephonic conversations and emailing daily wrap-up reports.
