Examinations and Milestones

1985 – Started Wado-ryu karate under supervision of Csaba Bisztrony (1st Dan Wado-ryu)

1986 – November 6th kyu exam

1987 – Joined Wado Kai Hungarian Organization instructed by Teruo Kono (8th Dan Wado-kai) under supervision of Csaba Bisztrony (2nd Dan of Wado-kai)

1987 – March -5th kyu exam

1987 – May 31 – 4th kyu exam

1988 – March – 3rd kyu exam

1988 – September – 2nd kyu exam

1988 – September – I opened my first own dojo for 14-18 ages in Budapest (in PKSZKI Secondary School)

1988 – December – I opened my second own school for 6+ ages in Budapest (Szenczi Elementary School)

1989 – December – 1st kyu exam

2000 – Teruo Kono dies and Wado organization in Europe and Hungary suffers from this loss and has to be rebuilt by new leaders and supervisors

2010 – September – Joined Wado Kenshu-Kai International Organization instructed by Yoshihiko Iwasaki (10th Dan of Wado Kenshu-kai) under supervision of Csaba Bisztrony (6th Dan Wado Kenshu-kai)

2011 – March – 1st Dan exam in Wado Kenshu-Kai

2011 – March – Yoshihiko Iwasaki Shihan, Grand Master of Wado Kenshu-kai International appoints me to implement Wado Kenshu-Kai in US and in Great Britain

2011 – June – I opened the first 2 Wado Kenshu-Kai dojos in Lincoln, UK for ages 4+ and ages 13+ (Lincoln Community Center and StrikeZone martial arts center)

WADO KENSHU-KAI is the modern way of Wado Karate. The modern Wado was created by Yoshihiko Iwasaki in 2007. Wado Kenshu-Kai exists only in Ireland and in Hungary.

Wado Kenshu-Kai International’s primary goal for 2012/13 to expand this style to the US and open the first dojo in the United States. Mercedes Obora is the only person in the world who is capable and wants to take this responsibility and assignment.
