Project Description:
PHUGC:
phUGC stands for:
P roperty
H osted
U ser
G enerated
C ontent
The phUGC service enables the publishing, marketing, and monetization of user-generated content directly to Yahoo! properties quickly and easily. This platform will be simple and easy to use for authors, site visitors, and property teams.
The platform will enable property programmers to find and highlight the best content and content creators, and serve the needs of the community of publishers and users for specific vertical and niche audiences.
It will serve as an open platform for user content production which can be specialized for the specific needs of content verticals. The content will be featured on the property’s pages. phUGC offers the property the web services to feature the user content on the property pages.
Benefits :-
4 key user groups:
1. Content Authors: Create, tag, and publish their content on Yahoo! properties.
2. Site visitors: Find contextually relevant content and information, interact with authors and other users who share their interests.
3. Property Editors/Producers: Select content for promotion or moderation, encourage quality content and build community, report and delete abusive content and authors, and monitor usage and revenue metrics.
4. Developers: Create applications based on API web services.
What Web Services does PHUGC offer?
• Comments
• Ratings (Stars, Thumbs up/down)
• Blog-posts
• Video (Embedded or Distributed player on property page)
• Profiles (updating to new version of CoreID? (v. 4.0) April 2007)
• Search
• Photos
• Tags
• Head Content
Blogs/Comments/Ratings:-
PHUGC enables users to comment and rate anything, user-uploaded or not! Blog-posts, comments, ratings, videos head-content from a feed, user profiles on a property – these can all be commented upon, blogged about, or rated. And the blog-posts and comments can also be rated. PHUGC also gives property editors the ability to find, organize and create campaigns around blog-posts, comments, and videos for an entire property, for sections of the property, for specific users and even for specific pieces of content.
The phUGC platform is integrated with the Yahoo! Updates (Vitality). When your property uses phUGC for certain user activities (such as posting blogs, headcontent, photo, rating or adding tags), phUGC will create corresponding updates for the Vitality platform. Your property does not need to call the Vitality API to generate those updates.
Mentor: I mentored couple of employees hands on training on work and guided them with knowledge of project and tools.

YAHOO
RnR: Worked on releases like Monza, Sepang, Magny-Cours, Catalunya. The Ratings & Reviews platform is developed and managed by the Communities team. Adding Ratings & Reviews to your property drives user engagement and retention, makes your property more competitive by attaching community opinions to your content and delivers valuable metrics about user interests and usage patterns. The platform is easy to deploy, and requires only a client installation. It adopts a service model, wherein the backend servers that store persistent data, are maintained by the Communities team.
RnRNG: Worked in this project for 5 months. RnR NG is the next generation platform from RnR team. As of now it supports rating only functionality but we would be adding reviews to it in the coming months. If your property needs ratings only, then NG is the platform for you. It offers considerable space saving (5X) and performance improvements (2X) over RnR Monza.

Detail Description of all the modules which I have worked are listed below:-
a) Test Automation Frame Work :
The test automation frame work is a frame work developed to automate the Test automation process
b) Automated Linguistic Review (ALR) :
ALR is a Web-based application scripted using PHP, Java Script, Perl and Postgress SQL. The module is developed basically to ease the effort of UI comparison for applications in different languages on the palm device. This will reduce the effort of the linguist in the comparison of the UI’s logging the defects and sending the defects to the particular engineer
c) Build Compare:
It is a module developed to do comparison between 2 builds that has been downloaded
d) Traige :
The purpose is to show the status like whether a particular test suite has been executed within 48 Hrs
All the above projects involve scripting using Shell/Sed/Awk/Perl/PHP/HTML/Java scripting coding methodologies
e) Automation using Silk Test
1) Bitmap Capture for ALR: This task mainly involves writing test cases, automation scripts, building test plans using Silk Test, The screen shots are directly captured from the Palm Simulator which inturn will be used for ALR (b). This involves mainly Silk Test 5.0.3. Step by Step by process is as below:-
1.a) Object map methodology is employed here. An xl database is maintained in which all the co-ordinate values are maintained
1.b) In a .inc file all the Custom Windows are defined to incorporate the tag values which are inturn fetched from the database
1.c) Test scripts are written so taking the values of the tags screenshot is captured n a deliverable format to the client
2) Localization Mismatch: This involves writing test scripts using Silk 5.0.3 to verify the basic PIMs of a build is localized or not. This is also partly done using Data Driven concept
Testing of the products in Relq includes:
• Testing the UI Flow of the Installer using the installer suite.
• Functionality testing using PDT functionality suite.
• Regression testing using automation suite.
• Testing the ‘Conduit Switcher’ functionality
All the above testing are done for all the US and localized builds in their respective OS images.
Client Interaction:
Both in I2 Technologies and Relq Software my job involved one on one interaction with the clients. Clients used to send job requests, my responsibility included to do the job, resolve issues/queries and to the final delivery to the client
