RELEVANT EXPERIENCE
Infinia Corporation Present
Manager of Electronics Controls and Software
Leadership of electrical software and firmware engineering team has enabled early-stage startup company to improve technical vertical integration and reduce reliance on vendor-provided custom solutions. Rapid reverse engineering and cooperative development processes enables Infinia to bring low-cost robust controls to their unique concentrated solar power generation systems. Process development includes requirements elicitation system architecture/interface optimization requirements allocation and FMEA cross-disciplinary specification development and verification/validation traceability. Additional development processes are currently being implemented. Multi-disciplinary technical challenges of controlling the Stirling engine cycle to generate grid-quality power are thrilling; however the company is facing significant capital challenges and is likely not viable.

Service Engineering responsibilities included defining solutions in partnership with Service Marketing customer focus groups Operations Technical Support Field Service and vendors. Drove remote service capabilities into other program teams for next-generation system development. Also responsible for technical due diligence for multiple business development opportunities. Initially hired to start Advanced Development Engineering team designed to bridge the gap between long-term research done by Innovations Department and shorter-term product development efforts. Hands-on R&D projects included developing new concepts for Molecular Imaging radiation detection sensors advanced protocols for personalized fluid injection protocols novel syringe and disposable concepts and driving intellectual property initiatives.
McKesson Automated Prescription Systems Inc. 2002 - 2006
Vice President of Product Development
Functional responsibility for all engineering disciplines including mechanical electrical software (application and embedded) systems sustaining and quality assurance. Primary tasks included developing the technical skills of the Product Development team implementing dependable design and release processes integrating Agile development methodologies where appropriate and aligning the goals of Product Development with those of Product Management Project Management Manufacturing and Customer Care. Successfully lobbied for development of Program Management structure and functioned as first Program Manager for robotic system development until position was filled with new hire. Left company in advance of sale of this division to a competitor.
Director of Research and Development
Built and led the first dedicated R&D team for pharmaceutical automation company (a division of a Fortune 16 company). Coordinated technical vision with market needs and drove technological innovation to meet future market requirements. Aggressive management of Intellectual Property program. Tutor for several Best Practices sessions including project management Taguchi DOE and risk management. Frequently asked to step in to assist late or extremely challenging engineering development projects. Recipient of President s Award for FY04.
PRI Automation 1999 2001
Director of Advanced Technology Group
Formed and led the Advanced Technology Group to create revolutionary next-generation products for semiconductor automation applications. Delivered prototype systems and drove development through full stage-gate process into production when required by business needs. Functioned as chief architect and project manager for multi-axis robotic system controller featuring Java-based client/server architecture built on VxWorks RTOS including 3D system representation for intuitive programming by novice users. Led team to develop advanced robot systems featuring one-half the parts count four times the payload one additional degree-of-freedom and improved speed and reliability compared to our standard product. Oversaw divisional IP status and trained NPD organization on IP protection techniques.
