Resume:

Nathan Cooksey PH: 503-***-**** email: v6egww@r.postjobfree.com

Age: 32, Height: 5’7” Weight: 195lbs Health: Good

Misdemeanor record, not proud, but upfront about history

Driving record: Fair - Good. AWS Certified 6G Welder

Objective: To provide well for wife and 2 boys.

June of 2000-Valmont Microflect Inc.

I was 21 and finished a college certificate in office automation and was seeking a position in the area of sales. I didn’t have the experience; and started there by building and learning the product. Microflect is a part of the cellular tower and component industry. I learned a great deal of print reading, layout, fabrication and self taught to weld in a modified spray. Reason for leaving: Company layoff.

July of 2001-Vaughn’s Inc

I followed an engineer and shift supervisor to his own start-up of a company to be competitor to Microflect. I was 1 of 2 employees; we started with a new building, a couple of old Hobart welders and a pretty descent iron worker. In time gained an automated saw, torch table w/plasma and a turn table lathe for processing monopoles. Here I learned a great deal to do with manual press brakes, jigging production materials, layout of odd shapes and leadership responsibility. Reason for leaving: New opportunity.

April 2004-Aggregate Machinery

This was heaven. Four overhead cranes to help in process of portable rock crushing equipment. I was able to do a surmountable amount of learning in fitting and assembly. I also learned a great deal welding with dual shield .045 in all positions. This is when I truly knew that I enjoyed processing steel. Crushers are big and powerful, very fulfilling to see a plant that you helped build roll out the door.

May 2006-L&M Welding

An established shop in a brand new facility. This shop was a country shop that did agricultural equipment and structural beams for construction. When I arrived there they had just been getting into aggregate equipment a niche I thought would be a suitable place for me. Instead it was a daunting task of not being able to perform duties due to conflict with the shop foreman. Reason for leaving: Joining the union to begin an apprenticeship.

August 2007-Dec 2009, Pile Drivers Union 2416

I joined as a first term apprentice and my first three dispatches where to bridges were I learned a great deal to do with form work and a various other labors. Then through the training center I was able to certify in process: FCAW code: AWS.D1.5-02, -04 in Dec 07. Then process: SMAW code AWS D1.5-02, -04. Positions All, 1/8“ unlimited. After gaining these certifications, I then was dispatched for more welding projects. Usually foundations for high rises and other large structures. Splicing, welding tiebacks and other associated task to do with this work. Through the carpenters training center I developed training skills through classroom training in math, blueprint reading, OSHA hazard awareness, OSHA construction safety and health, rigging qualifications of ANSI A 10.42-2000, boom truck operations and scaffold user qualification OSHA 1926.454(a). I enjoyed this work and the pay as well. With the economy down turn and lack of dispatches and time spent traveling to seek this work I unfortunately withdrew.

June 2010-October2010, Valley Fab Corp.

A fabrication shop that had a variance of structural product to do with several different industries. While with this company I did a variety of fitting products according to blueprint specifications. Welding was also a fair portion of my duties while there. Reason for leaving: Layoff due to lack of work.

March 2011, 6G pipe welding certification

I paid for this certification that it might be shown the seriousness that I have to do this work. I am not measured by my work but by the happiness of my family. I have the drive to do this and to do it well. Give me the opportunity and I will give you my all.
