Research Engineer May 1997 – Dec 1997

• Designed and implemented a fast algorithm for characterizing the available QOS between a Multi-Unicast Server and a Unicast client.

• Deployed and tested a cooperative packet recovery protocol for multicast video on the real Internet for latency requirements and other specifications. This project was a collaborative effort between USC ISI and AT&T Labs.

• Simulated two switch design implementations - FIFO and FQ, using sockets and analyzed their performance for various traffic patterns. The impact of varying buffer space in the switches and the changing output link capacity between the switches and the receiver(s) due to congestion were also evaluated. .

• Simulated IGMP and multicast data distribution for a particular network configuration using the socket library on SunOS 4.1.3.

• Built a model of a distributed file system using monitors, Sun’s lightweight process library and message passing. The project demanded creation of several server threads to process client requests in parallel
