Primary Responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive accident investigations, prepare reports, and establish corrective actions and safety precautions that eliminate risk factors for potential recurrence.

• Oversee the division-wide compliance with Federal regulatory requirements and serve as a safety expert with responsibility for:

- advising committees responsible for assisting management in developing procedures for safety

program advancement.

- providing professional representation in all legal proceedings involving the Occupation Safety and

Health Administration.

- consulting with federal and private agencies/organizations on technical issues related to TVA safety

programs.

• Conduct industrial safety compliance inspections and maintains site injury and illness documentation.

• Enhance and ensure complete employee understanding of health and safety regulation compliance by directing all training activities including developing manuals, leading educational classes, and conducting performance reviews.

• Manage all site contractor/partner activities and monitor their compliance with TVA and other applicable Federal regulations.

• Review and approve all purchase requisitions for potentially harmful chemicals, tools/equipment, safety supplies and equipment, and other materials.

• Monitor all work/illness injury related workers’ compensations costs and advise management on all dispcrepancies and cost-containment strategies.

• Plan and direct a diverse range of specials projects and programs that address/affect agency-wide safety and health issues.
