Safety and Health Technician
Accomplish a wide variety of Environmental Technician duties to include: Recognition, evaluation and control of Environmental and health hazards; conducting surveys related to various areas of safety; performance of a variety of industrial hygiene sampling missions, perform ergonomic studies, participation in emergency response actions, hazardous materials and general safety management functions. Determine adequacy of equipment, facilities and sanitation within the standards recommended by OSHA and military regulations. Provide training and consultation in the proper protective equipment to guard against specific hazards. Inspect and investigate hazardous conditions within maintenance work areas . Investigate accidents and mishaps to determine the root cause or trends that may contributed to the accident and provide the appropriate training, modifications to worksite or training in order to rectify any future problems. Immediately report HAZMAT spills to the appropriate agencies and chain of command. Prepare safety/environmental inspection reports and follow-up to assure correction any discrepancies. Provide formal and informal employee training covering a variety of standards and general safety practices. Discuss unusual safety and hazmat problems or serious violations with the chain of command .
