EXPERIENCE
Febuary 2009-
To Till date
Static Equipment Design Engineer/Stress Analyst (Olayan Descon):
Olayan Descon is a general oil and gas contractor, engaging in engineering, design and construction of various types of industrial equipment for customers and major EPC companies like Technip Italy, Aramco, Hyaundai, Cheveron etc in Saudi Arabia.
Designed onshore static equipments like Pressure Vessel, Heat Exchangers, Towers, Columns, Tanks, Reactors by conventional design methodology as well as Finite Element Analysis (FEA) with Ansys 12.1 Using workbench or solidworks to model equipments.
Conversant in Pressure Parts design calculations as per specifications : ASME Sec VIII. Div. 1 & Div.2, EN13445, TEMA, ASME SEC II Part A, B& D in accordance with specifications of Aramco, Sabic, Technip, Cheveron, Exon Mobil.
• Reviewing and updating the stress analysis reports to meet the production requirements.
• Finite element analysis with Ansys according to Asme Section VIII Div 2
• Classifying stresses as primary, secondary, local membrane or bending stresses to be compared with specifications.
• Generating applied loads and interface loads for the analysis of equipment
• Finite element model to capture the critical loading conditions using 3D elements
• Fitness for service analysis using: ANSYS, Nozzle Pro and FE Pipe
• Expertise in Structural and Thermal Analysis, Coupled Structural and Thermal Field Analysis
• Complex fatigue analysis using Ansys as per ASME Div 2 requirements. Which is must for industry acceptance.
• Perform design calculations to check stresses are in limits for Pressure Vessel and Heat exchanger and check detailed fabrication drawings.
• Attending technical meeting with client and contractors
July-
September 2004 Trainee Engineer (Aedesign):
Aedesign is a premier engineering design and consultancy company in Pakistan.
I worked as part of the engineering team in a target driven environment. This meant I had to meet internal deadlines, conduct FE analysis for stress using Ansys on the models made in ProEngineering.
• Analyses composite structures and did manual calculations for stress limits
• Analyzed different components for stress limits as per specifications.

Academic
2007- 2008 Cranfield University, Bedfordshire , England (Thesis)
Msc Astronautics and Space Engineering (Joint European Master) Finite Element Methods, Design and Analysis of Composite Structures, Propulsion, and Structural Dynamics. Program at Cranfield University was an opportunity for me to improve and develop my technical skills that are required in industry. Specialized courses for Finite element analysis, Stress Analysis and composite structures were taken by me.
2006-2007 Julius Maximilian Universität Würzburg,Germany(first semester)
The Object-Oriented Approach and Java Programming, Spacecraft Systems Engineering, Introduction to Space Physics, Space Dynamics, Internet Technologies,
Group Project:’ Assembly and Coding of Cansat and Ground Station
Lulea Technical University, Sweden (second semester)
Electronics in Space, Image Processing and Remote Sensing, Optics and Radar-based Observations, Spacecraft Environment Interaction.
2002-2006 Institute of Space Technology, Islamabad, Pakistan
BSc Aerospace Engineering. (1st class)
Structural Dynamics, Mechanics of materials, Thermodynamics, Turbine Theory, Aircraft Structures, Computational Fluid Dynamics, Aerospace Materials, Control Systems, and Engineering Management.
Final year Project: ‘Robust Attitude Control of Satellite using Matlab’ A complete working model of 2D satellite attitude control was built. The project involved the design of cold jet thrusters and structure of the model satellite. I achieved the design of the controller on Matlab and also performed the stress calculation for the structure of the satellite.
