Role: Research Associate

Department of Biochemistry, UTHSCSA, San Antonio.

PI: Dr.Bettie Sue Masters, PhD

Field of technical expertise: Biochemistry (Nitric oxide synthase and Cytochrome P450 reductase.

Responsibilities:

* Performed isolation, purification and analysis of eNOS protein using adenoviral based expression vector transfected into HEK293 cell lines.

* Prepared large scale batch cultures using roller bottles with HEK293 cells over-expressing eNOS protein, cells were then harvested and purification of eNOS protein by column chromatography was performed to generate protein samples for crystallographic studies.

* Documentation data and presentation results in lab meetings were routinely performed.

* Other responsibilities: Management of laboratory inventories, ordering lab supplies (using Peoplesoft) and maintenance of lab account.

2. 2007 To 2010:

Role: Research Assistant

Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, UTHSCSA, San Antonio.

PI: Nathaniel Jeske, PhD

Field of technical expertise: Neuroscience (pain research).

Responsibilities:

* Isolated rat neuronal cells for primary cell culture and utilized the cultures for various in vitro experiments. Maintained Chinese hamster ovarian cell lines.

* PCR cloning of mammalian genes (relevant to pain receptors) into plasmid vectors, modification of genes by site directed mutagenesis and generated clones for lentiviral transfection using bacterial and mammalian cell cultures.

* Transfection of siRNA into primary neuronal cells were performed and analyzed protein lysates to determine knock down efficiency by SDS-PAGE Western blot.

* Transfected plasmid DNA into CHO cells and performed molecular analysis by SDS-PAGE Western blot and fluorescent microscopy.

* Documentation data and presentation results in lab meetings were routinely performed.

* Other responsibilities: Management of laboratory inventories, ordering lab supplies (using Peoplesoft) and maintenance of lab account.

3. 2002-2003:

Role: Research Assistant

Department of Biomedical Research, UTHSC, Tyler, TX

PI: Usha Pendurthi, PhD

Field of technical expertise: Experimental Hematology.

Responsibilities:

* Maintained mammalian cell lines.

* Performed PCR cloning of mammalian genes (relevant to clotting factors) into different plasmid vectors, and amplified by using bacterial cultures.

* Transfected plasmid DNA into mammalian cells, and performed protein purification for molecular analysis by SDS-PAGE Western blot and luciferase based reporter assays.

* Documentation data and presentation results in lab meetings were routinely performed.

* Other responsibilities: Management of laboratory inventories, ordering lab supplies (using Peoplesoft) and maintenance of lab account.

* Test antibiotic sensitivity,

* Perform classification and identification of microbes using various staining techniques and immunological assays, including but not limited to complement fixation and ELISA.

POST GRADUATION DISSERTATION WORK:

* Clinical Profiling of Leuorrhoea; Etiology, Diagnosis, Management and Prevention. This study was focused on the screening for microbial pathogens in vaginal discharge of female patients from different age groups. It was concluded that Candiasis is the most prevalent infection among different age groups.

OTHER EXPERIENCES

* Proficient in Microsoft office (Word, Excel and Powerpoint)

* Developed Webpage for the laboratory of Dr. Nathaniel Jeske, Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio.
