An accomplished Computer Professional with an extensive background in TPF,
the Operating System used by many Airline Reservation Systems and other
extremely large Transaction Processing Systems (VISA, American Express,
etc). This experience encompasses Operations, Development, Testing and
implementation of major components, and coordinating all this in tandem
with QA to insure the successful implementation of any project.
Also worked closely with users to ensure documentation of requirements was
accurate. This ensures a timely delivery and also the ability to break up
the entire document into smaller tasks which could be given to individual
programmers.
KEY SKILLS:
Computer Languages: IBM S/390 Assembler, C, ISO C, Sabretalk, REXX, and
BASIC.
Extensive experience in Edifact and XML messaging.
Involved in Design, Development, Testing and Implementation, of key
application software from inception to ultimate approval by QA.
Excellent verbal and written Communications skills.
Customer Support
ADDITIONAL SKILLS:
Prior use of COBOL Java and Oracle
Trained in Java and the use of Eclipse for Java projects.
Experienced in supervisory roles.
PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE:
Jan09-Mar11 Amtrak, Washington DC
Computer Programmer on Amtrak's TPF computer reservations system. Experienced
in XML, EDI/Edifact, Cargo IMP and computer tracing.
Nov02-Jun08 Citigroup, New York City, New York
Computer Programmer. Responsibilities include modifications of and additions
to Citibank’s TPF System in Assembler, Sabretalk and ISO C programming
languages. Areas of expertise include Debit Card Authorization, Mortgage,
Encryption and XML processing. This involved intense cooperation with QA to
insure a positive outcome. I often had to work in tandem with QA to insure
the code I implemented was operating as designed. If QA found a problem,
the code went nowhere until the problem could first be duplicated and then
proven to be fixed with the updated code.
Feb01-Sep01 Open Skies, Salt Lake City, Utah
I was a Reservations Systems Analyst. I worked as a contractor with Open
Skies Personnel to affect the creation of a multi-hosted airline reservation
System that would ultimately serve, among others, Jet Blue, AirTran and
Virgin Air. Contract halted due to Sept 11, 2001 catastrophe.
Oct98-Dec00 Datalex, Atlanta, Georgia
Programmed in C primarily for conversion of web-based online reservations
“BookIt!” from C to Java. “Bookit” relied on information received from
Amadeus in Europe, Worldspan in Atlanta, and Covia in Denver. Data was
primarily gotten through “screen-scraping”. Worked closely with users
and QA to insure the software was working as expected. Programming support
was eventually transferred to Dublin, Ireland.
Jan98-Mar98 Indian Airways, New Delhi, India
Contracted to make modifications to Indian Airlines reservation system.
I primarily reported to British Airways personnel and was subcontracted
out to Indian Airlines.
Apr95-Dec97, Mar98-Sep98
Navitaire, Minneapolis, Minnesota
A relatively new player in the airline reservations industry, Navitaire
required that I worked on a contract basis in various airline and
airline-related shops around the country using heavy assembler programming
including via itself; US Air in Winston-Salem, NC; the TPF reservations
Center in Atlanta, GA which serviced Northwest Airlines, Delta Airlines,
and TWA; Jet Blue’s reservation center in Salt Lake City, UT; and
Continental’s reservation center in Los Angeles, California.
Dec91-Mar95 Delta Air Lines/Worldspan, Atlanta, Georgia
BAL/TPF Programmer for Delta Airlines and later Delta’s TPF software partner,
Worldspan. Major accomplishment was with a package called “Seamless
Availability”. I programmed the application that responded to Covia’s (United
Airlines’) requests for instantaneous availability on Delta’s reservation
system.
Oct82–Dec91 Pan American World Airways, Rockleigh, New Jersey
Programmed primarily in IBM BAL (Basic Assembler Language) in a TPF–based
environment. Responsibilities included, but were not limited to, the Pan
Am online cargo reservation system (Pantrac). In this role I supervised
between 6 and 8 programmers for 7 years until the company went bankrupt.
Education: Manhattan College, Riverdale, New York
Bachelor of Science degree
Dual Major: Computer Information Systems and Marketing.
