Director of Operations

• Responsible for the continued development and daily operations of a 400K sq. ft. Distribution and Manufacturing facility for a PA. based world wide manufacturer and distributor of lawn and garden tools whose customers include The Home Depot, Wal-Mart, Lowe’s and other national retailers as well as several landscaping and construction industry suppliers.

• Re-structured West Coast Distribution and Manufacturing operations to minimize costs by creatively utilizing foreign and domestic component sources. The Reno location was later used as the model to re-structure the East Coast Distribution Center to include light manufacturing operations.

• Effectively increased both Distribution and Manufacturing capacities through efficiency gains and multiple expansion projects in order to meet growth requirements associated with additional sales volume and multiple acquisitions.

• Developed multiple leadership and support positions required to meet the continued growth of a remote, multi-operation facility that includes Plastic Injection Molding operations, Light Assembly operations and Distribution of Finished Goods.

• Develop annual budgets and reporting practices to effectively communicate the status of actual cost to planned goals. Consistently achieved financial goals. Developed and maintained optimal inventory levels for materials and finished goods that allowed for consistent, exceptional service.

• Assisted in developing operations designed to increase sales by decreasing transportation cost throughout the supply chain and increasing service opportunities. Exceptional service levels of the facility are often included as the company’s sales & marketing advantages to increase revenues and gain market share.

• Successfully addressed multiple operational changes requiring replacement or additions to material handling equipment, RF equipment, manufacturing equipment, facility infrastructure and building improvements. Successfully negotiated multiple lease agreements.

Distribution Manager

• Successfully implemented plans to create a West Coast Printing and distribution operation in Reno NV for a Chicago IL based Packaging/ Printing Company.

• Developed staffing and operational procedures required to meet business demands and maintain customer service standards.

• Assisted in developing a cost-effective logistics model for multiple printing locations servicing West Coast customers.

• Worked closely with sales/marketing to expand market share and develop new customers.

• Responsible for the daily operations of a 420K sq. ft. third party logistics facility servicing the book publishing industry.

1992–1997 Penn Ventilator Company Reno, NV

Plant Manager/Business Administrative Manager

• Responsible for the successful design and start-up of a West Coast Distribution Center for a PA based HVAC equipment manufacturing company. Through process and design improvement the Distribution Center was eventually expended to a Customer Support Facility by adding Customer Service, Engineering Support and Sales departments to fully support the needs of the customers in the Western Region. The Sparks facility then became the model for four similar facilities that were eventually established throughout the US.

• Established a process for complete assembly of product within the region, resulting in an annual cost saving of $380,000 by reducing inbound freight cost by 66%.

• Served as a Task Force Team Facilitator in the development and documentation process of duplicating the Penn Ventilator Company’s Reno facility domestically and overseas

• Served as (Expansion) Project Manager responsible for financing, design, and overseeing the construction of a 50,000 square foot Sales, Assembly, Distribution and Customer Support facility in Reno, Nevada in 1995.

• Partnered with regional suppliers to establish lower pricing on the primary components used in the assembly process, which also resulted in additional reduced freight cost.

• Worked closely with sales staff in developing new business opportunities and increasing market share throughout the country.
