CAREER OVERVIEW:
• Mechanical engineer with over 12 years of experience in Automotive Industry with focus on Computer Aided Engineering (CAE), Prototype testing and Product Development .
• Familiar with Cars and Truck architectures, design process, FMVSS and corporate safety standards and subsystem design specifications.
• Performed full scale crash tests for development and validation of Cars and Trucks using HYPERMESH and LS DYNA as the pre and post processor .
• Extensive knowledge of HYPERMESH , LS DYNA , NASTRAN , UG, and LSPOST
• Experienced in Design and Development of Body Structures, Chassis, Closers, and Interiors.
WORK EXPERIENCE:
Ford Motor Company, USA
Project Engineer- Safety and Crash (2010-present)
• Provide the guide lines for the design and development of the front frame for the F-150 .
• Improve the side impact by providing better design for the fuel tank without adding any weight or cross member by improving the design alone .
• Provide the guide lines for the design and development of the B-plr , roof rail and rocker in side impact by improving the intrusion numbers and rear occupant velocities .
• Lead the design and development of the roof crush model in order to meet the IIHS roof crash requirements.
General Motors Corporation, USA
Project Engineer – Safety and Crashworthiness (2000-2009)
• Manage the load paths and the energy balance to improve model fidelity, share the experience with peers in the frontal crash events mainly 35mph, 25mph, and low speed frontal impacts . HYPERMESH , AND LS DYNA were used as the modeling and analysis tools .
• Performed the frontal and rear impact analysis to assist the design of frame and body in low and high speed event by using LS DYNA and HYPERMESH as the main tools .
• Assist the light and heavy duty program in modeling different components by using HYPERMESH as the main tool .
• Maintained the axial crush of the front frame in a controlled manner in a collision to give the occupants the necessary additional time to safely decelerate in a crash . LSDYNA and HYPERMESH were used as pre and post processor
• Lead the flawless launches of GMT900 program within General Motors .
• Conducted Design Reviews to meet Program objectives by leading the cross-functional product team.
• Lead the design/development of Fuel System and related components.
• Manage and resolved several fuel components safety aspects e.g. fuel pump, fuel filter, fuel injector and fuel rails.
• Conducted physical evaluations to develop design to meet crash requirements prior to each release as appropriate.
• Developed a full vehicle dynamic frontal NCAP analysis to improve the performance from the current 3*/3* to a 5*/5* for the GMT900 keeping in view the same vehicle frame will be used for different vehicle architecture. LS DYNA , LSPOSTand HYPERMESH were the main tools used .
• Improved the performance of GMT900 ODB performance from marginal to good by keeping the balance of the frame to satisfy the NCAP performance using LS DYNA and HYPERMESH
• Involved with development and testing of the vehicle at the proving grounds, overseeing the mass ballasting to the test mass specifications and assigning the various data collection locations.
• Manage a project to calculate the amount of energies going into different component of the vehicle
• Communicated design performance in product design team meeting with requirement met through analysis and hard ware test.
• Perform design and reliability simulation and physics of failure by identifying and eliminating the failure modes before they are inadvertently designed in the product.
• Lead the design team with a highly reliable mechanical subsystems, components and ensuring the reliability requirements are properly defined , achieving design specifications .
• Improve the model fidelity and reduce the mass of the vehicle by using better design and higher
Strength material by using HYPERMESH and LS DYNA .
Ford Motors Corporation, USA (Sep. 1998 - October 2000)
Project Engineer – Safety and Crashworthiness
• Lead the design/development of Fuel System and related components in different crash events using LS DYNA and HYPERMESH .
• Improved the performance of the vehicle in ODB from marginal to good by reducing the intrusion of the torque box and satisfy the NCAP performance using LS DYNA and HYPERMESH.
Suzuki Motors (January 1996 – December 1996)
Design & Development Engineer
• Lead the design/development of Chassis Components including rear spring shackle, common shock & spring mounting bracket, front spring eye hanging bracket and Clevis type shock mounting bracket for 4x2 truck suspensions.
• Optimized suspension component design for reusability of components on other programs.
