Contracted to clean up/trouble-shoot network throughput and develop long-term growth strategies. This required identification and correction of existing anomalies due to poor systems configuration. Project had tight time frame in a highly political environment that required great sensitivity to and consideration of cultural & religious issues and internal politics.  

 

Responsible for the Design, Testing and Deployment of Nation-wide OSPF/DLSW+/SNASW network to integrate all aspects of immigration, passport, deportation, and general citizen information into one centrally accessible repository. Audit procedures in accordance to BS7799 logic, were put in place to ensure device configuration integrity and the ability to track and identify intruders. Responsible for integration of Biometrics into existing network infrastructure including Retinal, Fingerprint and Passport Scan/Recognition.

With a long term colleague and as an arms length investment project just prior to 9/11 had secured venture capital funding to establish a community based Wi-Fi ISP - designed to service both local and national area whose connectivity requirements could not be met by local carriers - budget $3 Million USD and staff of 150. First phase implementation secured 25% of planned growth despite shrinking market following the impact of 9/11 but in the difficult market of the time the remaining VC funding was not forthcoming as investors consolidated their own holdings. The company closed and the infrastructure was sold to MCI, not recovering my own personal investment in the organization. Concurrently, my then employer, NCI lost considerable business and implemented redundancies and I reluctantly returned to contracting.  

 

Implemented NetCool Suite including Omnibus, Reporter (for maintenance and monitoring of Customer SLA Agreements) and NetCool Webtops for access to current network status from multiple sites. Setup Auditing procedures designed to monitor both local co-op and distant service partners ensuring access and payment for access.
