Led the Design and Implementation of a highly complex, mission-critical voice and data Network Operation Centers for the Hard Rock Cafe and Casino, including router/switch configuration review/implementation, rack & stack, voice configuration and network management system design.  

 

Designed and Implemented networks for multiple customers in the Bell South Network including the following technologies; VPN, Firewall (PIX), Switched (Spanning Tree Based) networks and Network Management Systems Design (Unicenter, Ciscoworks and Openview). This task includes firewall, content filtering, IDS, policy and system testing. Accountable for the upkeep and maintenance of a 730 Cisco Router network ranging from Cisco 7206 VXR to Cisco 1760 routers plus for the design and implementation of a backup network using T1 circuits to all Tire Kingdom warehouses providing backup data and VoIP services. 

 

Responsible for Tire Kingdom’s Retail network management and communication maintenance, troubleshooting and upgrades for 700 plus retail stores in the Tire Kingdom network.

 

Responsible for the redesign and implementation of Core Networking Functions in preparation for Data Center relocation to Las Vegas, NV.

 

Provided IT Auditing specialization in preparation for Sarbanes/Oxley audit. Rewrote Watchguard Firewall rules to strengthen LAN and WAN architecture against hacker attacks. Contracted to clean up/trouble-shoot network throughput and develop long-term growth strategies. This required identification and correction of existing anomalies due to poor systems configuration. Project had tight time frame in a highly political environment that required great sensitivity to and consideration of cultural & religious issues and internal politics.  

 

Responsible for the Design, Testing and Deployment of Nation-wide OSPF/DLSW+/SNASW network to integrate all aspects of immigration, passport, deportation, and general citizen information into one centrally accessible repository. Audit procedures in accordance to BS7799 logic, were put in place to ensure device configuration integrity and the ability to track and identify intruders. Responsible for integration of Biometrics into existing network infrastructure including Retinal, Fingerprint and Passport Scan/Recognition.  

 

Assisted in the design and implementation of Integrated Network Management Systems including Cisco Works 2000 with Computer Associates Unicenter. With a long term colleague and as an arms length investment project just prior to 9/11 had secured venture capital funding to establish a community based Wi-Fi ISP - designed to service both local and national area whose connectivity requirements could not be met by local carriers - budget $3 Million USD and staff of 150. First phase implementation secured 25% of planned growth despite shrinking market following the impact of 9/11 but in the difficult market of the time the remaining VC funding was not forthcoming as investors consolidated their own holdings. The company closed and the infrastructure was sold to MCI, not recovering my own personal investment in the organization. Concurrently, my then employer, NCI lost considerable business and implemented redundancies and I reluctantly returned to contracting.  

 

Implemented NetCool Suite including Omnibus, Reporter (for maintenance and monitoring of Customer SLA Agreements) and NetCool Webtops for access to current network status from multiple sites. Setup Auditing procedures designed to monitor both local co-op and distant service partners ensuring access and payment for access.
