I provide support to USDA managing and maintaining a complex environment consisting of Linux
(RHEL ver. 5.1, Windows, NAS and SAN.
I Excelled in research and implementing solutions to best fit environment needs and cost benefits. Ensuring day to day systems availability, security using SELinux, and reliability, recoverability of services including networks, servers, database, storage and peripheral equipment. I Excelled with the migration of Unix Tru64 environment using HSZ 70 controller to a Linux RHEL 5.1 NIS environment using ypserv on the master server and ypbind on client HP DL560 servers. I am responsible for user accounts using the make command, also user and group permissions using chmod commands. I was responsible for setting up an SAN solution using Falconstor software and Qlogic switches, creating server and client LUN’s with fiber cables allowing Window mapped network drives and Linux NFS mounts and disaster recovery along with a backup solution using Netvault Bakbone for the environment. I configured HP DL 560 servers using HP ACU (Array Configuration Utility) setting up disk partitions, and installing RHEL 5.1 OS with environment requirements including Oracle 10 and 11 g, SQL, PCI. I perform various upgrades using rpm commands, and yum system updates. I am responsible for the system networks from the servers to the switches for windows, and Linux RHEL environment. Hands-on experience with system patches, shell scripting, adding users/groups, and data restorations within environment. I Improved performance of backups with 1Gg network, upgrading tape drives from LT0-2 to LT0-4. I took over the agency Windows environment backups using Commvault software, which I completely revamped making the backups run to completion and more efficiently and adding more hardware to create a load balance. I work with NetApps, VMWare and VSphere for the Windows and Linux environment. I also handle the Windows system administration including user and group creations and permissions, data transfers, WSUS, and troubleshooting any issues from tier 3 support.
