EMPLOYMENT HISTORY
Wimpey Asphalt:
Plant Operator/Fitter – 1988 - 1995
During this time I was responsible for the maintenance and operation of the Asphalt and Concrete Plants which involved maintaining hydraulic driven and manual gear driven equipment, operating at high speeds. It also involved working within high risk safety areas with hazardous substances which required up to date health and safety knowledge at all times.
Self-employed Lorry Driver:
Proprietor/Lorry Driver – 1995 - 2000
I operated a tipper lorry in the Construction industry as part of a self-employment scheme run and financed by Wimpey Asphalt. This job required a Certificate of Professional Competence (Transport Manger) which is still current and maintained every 3 years. I was responsible for routing of deliveries and pricing contracts.
A-Plant:
Plant Fitter – 2000 - 2001
During my time with A-Plant, tasks involved maintaining generators and a variety of electrical equipment. To fully carry out this role, Portable Appliance Testing was required and was achieved on 17/01/01. This role helped me identify particular skills in the electrical field within the construction industry.
Bardon Aggregates:
Maintenance Supervisor and Quarry 81E– 2001 – Present time
On starting this post I was a Plant Fitter responsible for the maintenance repairs. In 2005 I was subsequently promoted to Maintenance Supervisor. In 2005 I started an informal training programme to enable me to progress to under-manger position. This involves undertaking training in more complex areas such as employee training, employee appraisals and advanced health and safety such as Scaffolding inspections, BOC Gas inspections risk assessments, interactive auditing, toolbox talks and contractor inductions.
