PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE
ADJUNCT ASSISTANT PROFESSOR, TEMPLE UNIVERSITY, PHILADELPHIA 2010 to Present
Designed and conducted ABET undergraduate engineering courses.
RESEARCH SCIENTIST, UNIVERSITY OF PENNSYLVANIA, PHILADELPHIA 2007 to 2012
• Editorial review board member of the Journal of Biomedical Graphics and Computing.
• Principal investigators of two grants awarded by NIH and AHA, over ten peer reviewed journal papers
and over thirty podium and poster presentations at national and international conferences. Studied of
mechanical basis of myocardial viability and ischemic involvement after surgical interventions, including
software development, numerical analysis and empirical validation.
• Optimized 3D novel annuloplasty rings to improve the durability of mitral repair surgery .
RESEARCH AND TEACHING ASSISTANT, DREXEL UNIVERSITY, PHILADELPHIA 2000 to 2007
• Investigated the dynamics of upper airway collapse in patients with obstructive sleep apnea. Developed
numerical models of the dynamics of upper airway collapse. Supervised senior design group in
designing and manufacture of in-vitro scale upper airway model to validate numerical models. This
work lead to two peer reviewed papers and one NIH R21 grant.
• Constructed 3-D computational models of medium-sized arteries to quantify the platelet margination
and transient adhesion phenomena in blood flow. This work lead to clinical utilization to prevent vascular
graft occlusion and thrombus accumulation during graft design.
R&D ENGINEER, BEIJING INSTITUTE OF PETROCHEMICAL GROUP, CHINA 1998 to 2000
• Implemented and maintained the ventilation and air-conditioning based on HACCP regulations.
