The NASA/ Orbital COTS Program-ROCKET SCIENCE
The Commercial Orbital Transportation Services program consist of an International Space Station (ISS) visiting vehicle, a privately- developed medium class launch vehicle and all necessary mission planning and operations and services. The COTS System is defined by a collection of five elements:
A. The CVV Element:
1. PCM module-Pressurized Cargo Module
2. SM module-Serve Module
3. UCM module-Unpressurized Module
B. The Mission Operation- Element
C. The Launch Vehicle-Element
D. Ground Site Operations-Element
E. Cargo Operations-Element
The COT program will allow the CVV to deliver 2.3 metric Tons of net pressurized or 2.0 metric Tons net of unpressurized cargo to ISS and dispose of at least the same amount of mass in a controlled reentry.
The CVV is designed to provide the cargo with electrical power and heat dissipation for the duration of the mission
