PROJECTS: - IMAGE SEGMENTATION USING THRESH HOLDING TECHNIQUE

Image segmentation is one of the most important and fundamental tasks in image processing. Many image segmentation techniques are available in the literature. Some of those techniques use only the gray level histogram; some use spatial details while others use fuzzy set and entropy theoretic approach. In case of automatic inspection or target recognition we need a better segmentation result with lesser time for real-time application. So thresholding based image segmentation techniques are simple and computationally efficient. In this work we have considered two class images i.e. Background and object. The thresholding results depend heavily on the type of image considered. In this work we have considered images having bimodal gray level distribution histogram. We have proposed a new correlation based threshold for object and background classification. We have considered three gray level images having bimodal, clearly separated gray level distribution. We will try to validate our results with the well known existing methods like Otsu’s approach and Calvard’s approach.
